Dragon Ball FighterZ: Legendary Saiyans Edition

Man, if he doesn’t show up I’ll be sad right along with you. I finished the Zamasu arc while at the gym this week and holy shit, he has one of the most unique fighting styles I’ve seen in the DB series in quite some time. When I first heard about him I thought he was going to be “SnH Goku” but instead he was his own beast favoring energy blades.

Gotenks is 100% lock. I’ll eat my shoe if he’s not base roster. He is like tailor made for a unique fighting game character.

It’d be hilarious if he could set up Ghost Kamikazes in the same way Zappa would.

Black with Immortal Zamasu as part of his moveset would be incredible. He’s got command grabs, unique projectiles, energy weapons, and even a Merged Zamasu Install if they want to go nuts. Make it 5-7 bars, and have him transform into a boss-level character for the rest of the round. They could balance it by removing his blue health regen, and make it a risk-reward proposition.

But that’s a fuckload of modeling, so I’d just be happy with SS Rose and a regular super using his dumb scythe wormhole thing.

I expect NWOku to be at least DLC since he’s like an arc boss. Plus I’m sure they will take any excuse to get more Goku in there.

I am not talking about Ultimate Gohan.
I am talking about people asking for stuff that clearly wouldn’t happen, like UGogahn on another costume different from the orange GI, which is not only his most iconic look, but also the one he is rocking on DBS, for example.

Yeah, it’s the least amount of work for Arc to dupe and reshape Goku’s model. It’s not a dealbreaker or anything tragic for me. Honestly, Gohan’s one of the least compelling characters on the cast. But the gi is getting a little stale.

This channel has been uploading NEW SDBZ content over the course of the past year. I wonder if DBFZ gets an arcade port and we see some of these players move over that way…?

If we’re going to get adult gohan can it be this one:

He was actually pretty badass in Shin Budokai 2. I’d be down.

Right but… as the game is now… The amount of meter you use, the strength of the beam you use. DOES determine the amount of hits it does automatically. So what is the real difference then? maybe if the game went by a generic every beam only did 50 hits. Didnt matter if it used no meter, level 1, level 2, level 3. Whatever… But thats not the way the game works. Inevitably moves the use meter do more hits, and the more meter it uses the more hits it does. That already is the general idea, so how is this core thought different? Unless you are saying you want every beam to do the same amount of hits then no matter what.

As for using a vanish to stop themselves from losing a beam war they are about to lose. I get that idea and already in the game you can vanish out of beams in the first place as is(or did they take that out? I know they took it out for level 3s… but is it out of level ones as well after the first beta? At the very least normal beams you can…anyway) but you forgot the conundrum you just ran yourself into of … You are using meter to try and win the beam war in the first place, so the idea /thought of you are running out of meter so you cant continue to do the beam war. So you will… use meter…to teleport… .behind them… but…you just said you didnt have meter to continue the beam war… so where is this meter coming from? If you are saying you just guessed you will can or will run out right at the start, well then wheres the mind game because why wouldnt everyone just teleport right at the beginning then?

Whatever the case again so im not really sure how the core general idea is different than what I just said im confused…

Dont get me wrong though personally I think there should be more of a teleport meta in the game. Maybe something like those tenkaichi games or whatever it was where if you teleported a move or behind the guy(or how did it work its been so long since ive played those)as long as you had meter you could counter the teleport with your teleport and it could go infinitely as long as you had meter to continue to do so. I think that is pretty fun, and they could probably add it in the game somehow im sure with just the way vanishes work now. Lots of ways they could do it but anyway…

I think Bomberman is basically saying hits per meter spent should be standardized so one level one doesn’t beat another cleanly, or one special not beating another cleanly. Right now equal resources still don’t totally cancel out a lot of the time. I think the system works pretty well the way it is, it’s more of an organic beam clash system.

As for super dragon ball arcade fighting game whatever… I think the idea that this game was great beacuse… not everyone had a beam super goes back to again the obvious. If you dont like laser beams and people blowing shit up why are you watching dragonball z cuz thats what most people do… laser beam a vs laser beam b… 2 that game straight up characters have the same exact animations/models and fireballs across the board for some characters. So what kinda argument is that then because that game reuses many assets character to character. I think people also are probably forgetting one of the reason that game failed is because although its neat and deff has its own vibe as a game and in the grand scheme of DB games its probably pretty high… but… its weird. Its also weird in a bad way. It actually went that route of putting in wack ass wacky novelty characters like chichi etc who only a small minority of people give a fuck about. Who cares if they gave and made up moves for them? Sure its cool in one way. But in another way the game is also missing many popular established characters that actually are worth a damn. And hell some of the iconic stuff just doesnt get used in it. turning SSJ is rarely useful etc etc. So the game is missing a lot of fan favorites, and instead put in the novelty characters to soon before them, you dont see a lot of iconic moves/forms as much as you should etc etc… again one of the reasons the game failed is because it tried to be different in and catered to weirdness that most people dont give a fuck about. So ya it succeeds in that its a different vibe, its its own game, has a comic asthetic to it, but then when you play it, most the time you dont get to play as all the characters and or forms that made you like DBZ in the first place. Like come on … chichi? Mystic gohan… with a sword? Who just uses random animations from other characters. Novelty characters instead of putting in established characters first. So thus it failed.

As for ultimate gohan argument in general, he should be in the game. He is the strongest non fused character in the original story. A main arc of him was basically just him powering up. ya he jobs, and he basically has no cannon moves besides I guess a beat em’ up super. And I admit that is stupid. Hes almost there just to show him get sucked up by buu, to then show how ridiculous powerful vegeta and goku are together when they beat him up… but hes important. He should be in the game. They can make up moves for him. Again the idea, why the fuck do you want a character who has no moves and is not important to the story. But you argue you can make up moves for him! Make him fun! But hey… here is this character who is important to the story… but dont make up moves for him dont make him fun because I dont like him is absolutely stupid.

I already established that in what I wrote… for the most part they are standardized…

Beams that do 5 hits that do no meter… tien, goku, yamacha, cell, krillin, trunks

beams that do 20 hits, goku, gohan, SSB goku as well… do we have any other beams at level 1? rubs chin mind blank

Only difference is level 3 vegetas level 3 does 30 hits, but vegetas can be done in the air I guess sooooooooo
Gohan, and cells do 40…

And I wrote about what happens when you do krillins… so ya the general idea of beams is fairly standardized… Currently it being different is the exception … so where is a lot of the time?

i’d rather have future gohan. One armed with enough of fight scenes to have a moveset.
If you really want mystic gohan i think it would be more interesting if it was an install on adult gohan (not future, regular adult gohan from the buu saga, maybe SSJ2 as base, you’d have some of his vs dabura and buu moves included maybe a goofy ass sword super). This way bandai could greedily sell a great saiyaman alt as DLC. (Some years ago i’d say you’d unlock it playing story mode, but gotta move with the time. At least it’s not loot box based…yet.).

Yeah it seems like the exceptions are probably done on purpose like Vegeta’s trading hits for versatility.

2 new characters next week

Bardock and Goku Black, GO GO GO!!!

I’d be fine with that, they’re more than different enough from Goku in terms of techniques and moveset that they wouldn’t be a rehash.

Id question as to how new is new? Is it possible this was taped before ginyu and nappa were announced and now they just mean first actual match footage of them fighting in real matchs or something? Or 2 totally unannounced period. Plus next week? Wasnt it already said 11/1 in Japan they were having brand new reveals and big announcement for the game there at some event? Kinda hard to believe gameinformer would be stealing japans thunder in some way…

Personally id also like to think that if there are new characters besides that it seems pretty logical to announce the open beta for december or something at the event. I mean what are you gonna do… have the open beta… in january… when the game comes out? Doesnt make much sense logistically since you have to send in finalized games a couple weeks early or whatever to get approved in the first place all around.

Anyway if there are new characters im still sticking with the final 7 I gotta assume are some mix of kid buu, gotenks, ultimate gohan, vegito, beerus, final boss 21 maybe, and god some gimmicky or archetype character. Id like to think broly, but he seems like such easy DLC bait. So maybe dabura to finish out buu arc? Then that leaves the last 8 for super/GT/movie whatever.

Maybe ultimate gohan and kid buu get announced.
Next month since it sorta goes with themes, fusions, gotenks and vegito, while showing 21 boss maybe?
Then janurary final month shows the 2 most popular movie characters(or…is gogeta more popular than these 2? Anyway)broly and beerus?

On a random gameplay related note, since weve seen 17 stores 18s properties… i wonder if nappas green men will store smashes as well… And if theres a limit to how many you can have on screen, what if ginyu switchs to opponents nappa and then through some fiddling you have multiple green men all attacking at the same time…

As for gotenks thoughts, maybe maybe ghost kamikaze attack can be like striders ouroborusISH… Maybe he spits out 4-5 whatever they swirl around him when you do the super, so you can rush the guy down and get a few of them to hit explode go for mix up using them as a ghetto shield. Or if you hit fireball while they are out he sends them out like that one at a time. Glactical donut could act like buus blob does right now, level 3 volleyball move. Maybe make it like 18s how if krillin is on the team she does it with him, so if piccolo is on the team he hits the ball once as well who knows. I think he is another potential character that could get hurt by them trying to make the game simple because he has a lot to work with so fitting in every potential move into only having so many commands could be a little wonky depending on how “fun” they want to make him.
