True, but that often comes at the cost of limiting playstyles. Look at MvC2, for all the complaints about the game having a limited viable cast, it sure had a large variety of viable playstyles - including some that you rarely ever see anymore. For example, old school trapping teams such as Spiral/Sent, Strider/Doom, Blackheart/Doom, etc., or full screen runaway with Storm and assists like CapCom, Cyclops, or Cable. Heck, the latter is pretty much killed by neg pen.
Dunnoā¦ Half the cast in SF4 couldnāt really utilize FADC. I guess you just have to design the characters with the universal system in mind, instead of an afterthought like Capcom does.
LMAO
Every time this discussion comes out it has been proven that you can have that kind of playstyles even with the np mechanic on the game.
NP doesnāt prevent you to play lame, and you know it. The only big difference is that you canāt be 100% passive.
Just by throwing an attack and you reset the np.
Some character will bennefit more from some mechanics than others.
That is inevitable when you have asymmetric balance.
basically. In xrd changes to the blitz system in 1.1 really hurt venom, so they went back to the drawing board and buffed his core toolset over time.
Youāve never watched someone runaway in Xrd? all you have to get around negative penalty is to move forward sometimes. like seriously watch ET play(especially in rev2 heās even more runaway) he never gets negative penalty and is lame as hell. If you watch storm runaway in MVC2 sheāll lightning attack and air dash forward a good amount of the time.
with posts like these itās hard to take your fighting game opinions seriously though
I am so in. That trailer is the dopest trailer Iāve seen in a while.
I trust ArcSys for gameplay but I really want to see some, hopefully people stream themselves playing it if itās playable at E3.
In this trailer I can see that they do have transformation, curious to see how they work exactly. The last part does look like an insta kill with the kamehameha going off the planet.
The āclashā in the early screenshot looks like some kind of intro thing.
Yeah, I honestly canāt recall any major issues with it now that I think about it. Most of the issues I heard were from other people. I didnāt play Xrd that much online, but always mixed opinions about it. My experience with those games were all good.
While Iām actually pleased to be proven wrong in this case, it still doesnāt feel close to anything as oppressive as what we saw in MvC2 (or even some instances in 3). But we can count that to just a difference of opinion, since Iām generally fine with the āfuck all, you gonna have to switch/counterpick or dieā type of match ups we had in Marvel.
Still going over that? Please, I was purposely playing to get hit by jabs at that point, to make a point.
Watching the trailer frame by frame, it seems that some attacks from the assits obscure the point character enough to allow some nasty mixups.
For example, when Gohan calls Goku & Vegeta assits
