Hi guys… I am trying to learn how to play Doom, but I will admit my execution is not the best in the world. I can do trish relaunch combos all day, but it took me a while to learn Can you guys recommend a good starting combo to build a base on? Thanks in advance!
Buktooth loop. every Doom player should start with that as it’s a midscreen relaunch combo that covers the basics of Doom’s airdash cancelling and stuff like that.
Alright gentlemen, so I’m just now getting into Doom, i have Bucktooths Loop down, and I almost have the Tri-Dash down. However, I can’t seem to pull anything off ONLINE, in-fact, I can’t even successfully Tri-Dash Online with out screwing up, keep in mind I’m 100% offline. So, my question to you guys is, how long did it take you to play as Doom on a competitive level ONLINE? I’ve been using Doom for about two months, and i still screw up Online only. I’m even dropping BnBs online. Someone please give me advice on using Doom in a laggy online environment. Thanks in advance! Also, what are some good ways to Get-In on your opponent besides using Dive-Kick? Everyone always punishes the Dive-Kick.
I’ve been playing Doom online since release. I can’t do combos consistently online. Remove as many hits as you can. I do j.m directly into s.S during bukloops. Much more likely to hit.
competitive online in this game doesnt mean anything. its complete trash. dont worry about it
yeah if u are gonna play online try hulk/haggar/sentinel. first lord in no time.
Damn, I really was looking forward to being one of the few Dr. Doom players who actually know how to rush down, as opposed to spamming scrubs. It just sucks dropping easy combos after all of that execution practice. Feels like I’m practicing for nothing when I’m online. Here’s a good example, Offline my Doom would be a 5TH LORD, Online 9TH LORD, which is horrible! Will the Netcode be any better in UMvC3?
a “glass half-full” man would say yes. I would say, don’t worry about the netcode and support your local scene by going to more tournaments instead. you can’t really prove yourself online because of the lag factor. I can understand training online with AE, but not with the randomness of Marvel 3.
Its going to be funny… In UMVC XF3 Strange and Hawkeye are going to be SOOO abusable ONLINE with their 1 frame omnidirectional hypers lol…

nice combo, i personally found it much easier to do this by omitting the 2nd hits from every medium, maybe its just because im lazy but i wasnt really willing to put it in the time to burn in the muscle memory to make sure the last j M was 2 hits so S / hard kick would land and doing this with all single hit mediums makes it much more lenient and the damage isn’t harshly affected

The main problem I am having is that after the first air combo, Doom lands too late to pick the opponent up with st. :h:. Also, whenever I do get the second loop and hit the second st. :h: otg, the Molecular Shield doesn’t connect because Super-Skrull recovers.

Cancel your air S into a downward airdash ( :d:+:atk::atk:), then whiff j.H to fall as fast as possible.
Edit: Is this a mission mode thing? If so, I don’t know what else you can do.
I can only get 2 reps of the bnb the cr M on the 2nd rep is what always what trips me up and the cr H on each rep is hard for me to connect. I’ve been in training with doom for 2 hours and still can’t get it to work once.
For the first rep I skip the cr.M and just do cr.H, then on the second one they are in the perfect position for the cr.M cr.H to connect.
Other alternative methods I have used in the past were to do cr.M cr.H for the first rep and then st.M S, hard kick, or just S by itself for the final relaunch. Trying to do cr. cr.H for both reps just makes it much harder on a lot of characters for a very minimal difference in damage.

if you are just learning Doom this is a video I threw together real quick for a friend that covers most of the main BnBs I use right now. It starts with the basic, most stable combos and then goes into some of the more advanced ones I have been trying to work into my game lately, plus some easy Xfactor combos and a DHC glitch with Tron that no one should care about because it will be gone tomorrow. There are probably some better Doom combos out there but I have yet to see them be used reliably in actual match play

I assume these still work in Ultimate, but not 100% sure. Here’s a damage comparison with and without the cr.. I land these all the time in actual play:

The damage difference is negligible and the first version is far more reliable. You’ll have to use different variations from further than half screen though.
Thanks but I do the bnb exactly as it’s listed on the OP, I only do cr M on the second rep. I have trouble doing the addf M low enough to the ground where I can combo cr H.
What I posted is easier and does far more damage than what’s on the OP.
The trick is to do the sj.:f:+:h: as early as possible (pretty much the moment you come off the ground) and then the addf
as late as possible. It’s pretty easy after that. Don’t bother with any cr.
. If you’re a little further than midscreen, you can land the third launch, immediately go for sj.
wait til you’re above the opponent, sj.

It’s easy and does over 800k.
