I learned recently that you could DP honda when you block his super before the second hit. I watched someone do it online consistently. I then went to training mode and could do nothing at all after blocking the first hit. Block stun would not allow me to even get hit on the 2nd hit.
I don’t understand. If there was nothing I could do between the two hits because block stun from the first hit never lapsed, what is there to time? I’m saying there seems to be a difference in training mode for some reason…
Wasn’t this one of the things that was fixed for Honda in Remix? I know you can do it in Vanilla ST easily, but I am pretty sure as a fix to the super so both hits connect, they took out the ability to SRK it after the second hit.
^ I actually thought so too, but I double-checked Sirlin’s Honda article and that was not changed. You should still be able to dp the second hit if you block the first. (Of course, now that all the hits combo together, if you get hit by the first you can’t dp the second anymore.)
I don’t know about hitting him after blocking the first one, but you can’t just hit the first one anyway, he’s not invunerable the whole time… it’s just on the startup. It’s very similar to his normal headbutt.
interrupting in between the super headbutt is still possible. can be done with sagat-tiger uppercut, shotos- uppercut, guile-flashkick, etc. but during online matchplay, if there is any hint of lag, it becomes almost impossible or at least very difficult to interrupt.
i am starting to wonder about people who ONLY play online consistently. they might be getting a false sense that moves etc might have priority over such and such, but when they play some one good offline, things become different. something like this is 1 example. i notice that bison and cammy (to name a few) seem stronger online along with honda becuase of lag etc. as if certain moves gain more priority. if there isn’t a thread already, some of these issues should be discussed.
you can reverse on the second hit, but the timing is super tight as opposed to vanilla ST, i also think that its more specific in HD. maybe depends on how it hits? either way, it is reversable
Thing is, online the window is there, because if I were to say, tap jab, I would get hit after blocking first hit.
This is what I did in training mode though:
Make second player do honda super vs ryu and quickly pause on ryu’s controller. Unpause and attempt to block 1st hit then reversal (why was there no recording mode in training mode for this game?).
Anyways, what I found was that there is nothing you could do. You have to block both hits in training mode. Try it yourself and see if you see what I’m talkin about.
You can definitely alsways reversal the 2nd headbutt after blocking the first, I do it all the time to Honda players online. Try doing the piano method when excuting your reversal special move. It should increase frequency of a reversal attack. Hit me up online if you want me to confirm that you can reverse Honda’s headbutt first hand.
Are they setting it up or just using it? If you can see it coming, alot of char’s jabs will just knock him out of it to begin with. If they are setting it up though, then a reversal is your only option.
