I’d seriously learn 3S again.
Legal issues
Wow, it’d be awesome to have an ‘arcade’ near downtown again.
FUNLAND 4 LIFE!
lol but seriously, this’d be cool and I’d probably stop by there in the evenings once or twice a week.
I vote for 3S and SF4 setups. I probably suck at 3S now, but it’d be nice to play again.
I just thought I’d drop in with some tech knowledge on this point. There is no way for a human to confirm based on a fighting game what the lag is on a TV unless it’s noticeably bad, at which point the lag is actually atrocious. 99.999% of TV’s on the market have some input lag even in game mode, which would not be physically noticeable outside of timing-sensitive combos
The easiest way to test for lag is with a rhythm game, preferably Rock Band 2. Rock Band 2 has a fantastic lag calibration system in place, which you can use any normal controller to test the lag on your TV. The most human-error-free way to test it would be to use the Rock Band 2 guitar, which when combined with Rock Band 2’s calibration program will automatically let you know exactly how much lag there is on your TV.
One way to potentially remove lag on an HDTV which apparently works on 9/10 cases, is to get a PC cable for your console and use that for the TV. Most HDTVs have PC input ports on them, and because the signal is converted to analog before it goes into the TV, there is no need for the post-processing on the TV that causes HD lag in the first place. I haven’t tested this myself yet with my HDTV and 360, but when we used this setup with my friend’s laptop, the lag was completely gone.
I’ll just leave that there.
This statement is correct
Drekken knows.
needs liquor
So just to be clear, there’s zero chance that 3S will be on a low-res CRT monitor and use a pay-per-game system, because of monitor availability and arcade licence issues? Not sure what the latter even entails, but you said something about 3S being the arcade version and I got happy for a minute.
Edit: Nevermind about the PPG thing. There’s no way one game can be the exception, haha. Retarded question.
I always wanted to learn Hugo…
is this still going down?
No we just spend our time speculating to boost post count.
weak
I agree that Toronto needs something like this… more arcades are never bad, considering how scarce they seem to be nowadays. I would definitely be in.
hmm my question is…if everyone pays by time…will there be rules on time spent on a game?
I think mr. Carthik lost interest in this… oh well…'twas nice thinking about it though…well, looks like back to online gaming then…:arazz:
EDIT: Actually I think he may be scammin
ok update time.
I see some of you guys are not very patient, perhaps you don’t understand the thousands of dollars that need to be invested into something like this, and how you cant just throw that away overnight, it takes time and planning, if you think not I nominate you to go ahead and make this work.
I have not lost interest, I am simply quite busy. So as for how things are going, I am still working on the cabinets but I am not sure about the location and Bathurst and Bloor. Reason for that is not because the location is bad, its an awesome area to put this “arcade”, however I am worried about the facilities. I did not expect such a large response. There is no way the facilities I had in mind over there would be able to house so many, not to mention it wasn’t the greatest facilities to start (Very weird subletting going on). So, I am on the hunt for a new location.
Please be patient, and try and understand the amount of work that goes into this, I challenge any of you to try and find the time in your day to try and get an arcade running.
ok, street fighter 3s questions, YES I am trying to get a real board. I have parts of it, and am trying to assemble a REAL board. As for the monitor, I could run a real CRT monitor, they are just expensive, large, heavy, and take more than 25x more power than an LCD. Please keep in mind costs need to remain low, in every way possible, including monthly expenses (ie Hydro). I have found a supplier offshore who can supply me with brand new CRT monitors, so if it comes down to it and I decide to run a CRT, I have access to them. They will not be on a pay per game basis, because of legal issues, it will have a button for credits.
As for other boards I have recently acquired a SF2 Hyper Fighting, SF2 The world warrior, and the SF2 rainbow hacked one (forgot exactly what its called).
Varleran, thanks for that info, I didnt know that about the VGA output, I do have VGA cables for the 360, will see how that goes!
Keep your posts coming, questions, comments, suggestions etc. Be patient, I want to find a location that will be long term instead of moving every now and then.
Carthik
???
lol, please elaborate, I would love to know what crazy scheme you think I’m pulling.
oh iunno it was just there to see if you would post or not
lol, I was in the middle of posting when you edited your post. so I didn’t see it at first. It worked afterward though, I’ll give you that.
