Double Dragon IV having (18?) playable characters for story mode = the ultimate Double Dragon ever

Neon got praised in the media, but got bashed hard among people who actually wanted a Double Dragon game. Neon’s mechanics were pretty abysmal, so it’s not a stretch to see why.

perhaps if DDIV does well, the sequel could get backgrounds, sprite scale and pixel details like these, except beat em up style. but yea sprite art is expensive nowadays the more HQ and detailed they are.

The arcade version would make better sense to build from.

I can’t imagine the type of brain tumor that’s going around that allows some of you to talk mad shit about Neon. Yet you’LL continue to wank in favor of retro graphics.

This is why remasters are so fucking popular this generation.

dsis gaem sux cuz da grafix r old dawg

only Japan version delayed, western version might still appear today on psn

ITS UP ON NA PSN!! about 550.11 megs

Grabbed the game on PS4. The screen tearing is real.

EDIT: How do you do the spinny headbutt move? Can’t figure it out. The knee is still godlike.

EDIT 2: Figured it out. Hold P, then press forward. Before the headbutt comes out, press any button.

I dont even think nor see “screen tearing” while playing since I’m concentrating on the action, the gameplay and visuals are outstanding for the style they are going for. anyone that grew up with NES games wouldn’t have any technical issues with the visuals, controls, gameplay and audio.

this is in my opinion the GREATEST Double Dragon game to date. even the story mode exceeded expectations, there’s a lot more missions than I thought and even single mission is awesome. and it’s so challenging, I’m glad they added stage select using options to do the latest mission completed. that option can be considered easy mode, but it’s a nice option that keeps the core campaign challenging for those that dont wanna resort to stage select or some kind of credit upgrade.

the characters have their uniqueness in the gameplay too. especially Ayumi, it’s amazing how the moves are linkable. even the jumps feel different. Playing in campaign, the gravity and distance of the different character jumps have to be considered. practically makes it feel like a different game.

and the story itself is SO EPIC. it’s incredible how the progression escalates, and the amount of enemies increase. each mission has its own personality to it. really grea tbackgrounds and balance of platforming segments. and that is GORGEOUS where the final battle takes place, which is different from the typical building or enemy faction stronghold.

and Tower mode is excellent, very challenging, very hardcore, very rewarding. and there’s still more to unlock and discover!

Im not sure which music version I like more. the retro music is outstanding, though the more advanced remastered versions of the retro music is phenomenol!!

and the story campaign has some secrets, like you can actually cause MORE enemies to appear depending on certain things. and certain parts even have a maze like feeling to them, so it helps to be sure to choose the right path. its great it has some light exploration in there too. also things like large crates, breaking them open without using them on enemies, can cause rare weapons like grenades and dynamite to appear.

yea not everyone can use all weapons and objects, but they still have their own unique movesets, and Linda can still pick up and use the chain whip/flail weapon.

You’re one of the people who post on forums from their cell phones and bought an XBone?

I expected this to have graphics like the Contra Arc did, with a deep combo system. Utterly dissapointed.

Only hope it at least plays like an arcade game and not a boring bloated console beat’em up, but probably it won’t judging from all those characters.

So where the fuck is it? I can’t find it in the Playstation Store. It’s supposed to be out in the EU as well.

This is the first game I ever refunded on steam. This game is fucking awful, everything about it plays like shit. It’s got some of the dumbest AI ever to boot and there’s no content outside of unlocking all the enemies in the game and retro Billy and Jimmy + a handful of DD3 characters for some reason. I don’t even consider my nostalgia for Double Dragon to be all that strong but the fact that story mode keeps referring to Billy and Jimmy as “THE DOUBLE DRAGON BROTHERS” really pisses me off. This feels like a cheap terrible cashgrab shat out in a month to bank on the Double Dragon name.

I found it really disappointing. The first 5-6 missions take like 2 mins to beat. 1 or 2 trash mobs and boss. 2 screens or so.

Nes DD3 & Super Double Dragon are way better. 1 & 2 as well. Also love the progression of DD1 where you learn new moves as you get exp. River City Underground is in beta now and should be out soon…Hopefully… DD4 has zero chance of competing with that game.

Yea I thought so. Thats too bad. I’ll play neon again.

How to play this game: Don’t respect SHIT. Stand over your fallen foe and scream" FUCK DAT SHIT NIGGA LET’S RUN IT!!!" while mashing punch or whatever your fastest attack is with said character.

Game is bad right now. Damn, like really bad. Why is an 8-bit game 1GB in size?

Some of the stage parts are designed in a way where you can only progress when you kill all the enemies. But the enemies are either fucking retarded or there’s a big delay before they actually appear on screen. So you can walk for like 20 seconds with nothing happening and then have 10 enemies appear at once. Not that they provide any real form of challenge… Or you can walk and the stage will gladly scroll and then just stopped and pow you get bopped in the face by an enemy that appears out of nowhere.

Worse still, you can do some crap platforming bit, reach the end, but then have to go back because there are enemies appearing from behind that you didn’t know about. If it’s a platform bit that only works one way, you’re fucked.

Buttons override directions, so it’s a real chore turning around once you’ve started an attack. You can’t hold the other direction and expect them to turn around after the animation ends. You have to stop pressing so it registers the direction, then you start pressing again. Really annoying.

Don’t buy this game till they fix it.

PSN updates after 6PM, I think.

When it comes to combat and platforming. Valdis Story is up their. I don’t think any 2d platformer comes close combat wise. Great customization, gear & 4 unique characters. Metroidvania!
Lots of secret bosses too and their all beast. Damn challenging game.

Still nothing…

I guess ‘worldwide release’ means ‘only US’.
