Double Combos

Valentine is the hardest character to preform the j.LK route on, but Peacock is the hardest character to do the entire combo on consistently, because Avery only hits her once in most cases mid-screen.

I haven’t seen any kind of consensus on what corner combo Double should use. Any suggestions? I want to get in some good practice on training mode.

why not fridges?

See some of the combo videos on the last page. The barrel loop doesn’t work with the fridge.

You can also use barrels out of the corner, which is why I asked what can be done in the corner that can’t be mid-screen.

It does indeed, in the corner. The third post or something, on the 1st page, is a combo with 2 fridges. If it’s that this stuff can be teched at every point, then welp, but I think you can get like 5 fridges in the corner.

Fridge combos are not the same as barrel loops. Fridge combos require that you hit the opponent before they bounce on the ground, using LP and cr.LP. It’s character specific as well, and doesn’t do a whole lot more damage.

Yeah, I only use the fridge in combos as a non-meter ender or an easy lvl3 setup.

Since a lot of people seem to have difficulty with the combo here’s a video of it being done on all the characters:

I found limiting j.lk to 1 hit does not affect damage but makes the combo more consistent and also seems to do a bit more damage against double.
(i accidentaly did 2 hits of j.lk against painwheel but 1 hit will work aswell.)

You will have to excuse the video quality as this is something i just threw together quickly.

I’m pretty sure that the amount of hits that J.MP does on the rejump is what really effects how this combo works out. On heavier characters like Bella and Parasoul you have to do fewer hits, but for the lighter ones you have to do more, but too many and the J.HP might whiff a hit, it’s really tough.

Catellites is a crapshoot IMO, I just beat the f*ck out of people until it’s over and then try to transition into a Barrel Loop once they’re gone…

But as far as picking up after a throw, it seems to be a little easier if you OTG them with [dash] s.LK > s.MK > s.MK, then look at how high they’re floating, if they look like the combo will drop from them being too high, just wait a bit before you combo into s.HK you have eons to do it and makes the rest of it worlds easier without having to worry about adjusting for height…

Also like Shari said, chaining j.LK > j.MK after the first hit makes connecting the j.HK > Barrel right after it WAY more consistent… I couldn’t even regularly do it until I tried that

The thing I love about this combo is that you can go for resets all over the place during it and it just seems like you fucked the combo up because of how awkward it is…

I was toying around with j.HK itemdrop relaunches, and I managed to piece together an entirely-impractical solo combo for a mirrormatch that gets what I see as the maximum namount of Avery you can get in one combo without DHC shenanigans into Peacock herself. I’d have a video for this instead of the ridiculously long text string, but I don’t have the means…

Versus Double in the corner, moves get full hits unless noted otherwise:

Superjump over her, j.HK(Kick part whiffs), land, neutral j.HP HK, land, j.HK(Immediately after Avery 2’s 2nd hit) Teacup, j.MK(First hit only) Teacup, Grab. s.MKMK HK, j.LP MK HK Drum(Or teacup). s.LK MKMK HK, j.LK MK HK Drum(Or teacup). cr.LPLP s.MKMK(Stagger these so double hits the floor) HK, j.MP(5 hits) MK HK, neutral sj.HP(Slightly late) HK, H-Luger. s.LPLP (Before double hits the ground) MKMK cr.HP H-Hornet Legion. otg.cr.LK s.MKMK HK, dj.Fridge, Cattelites. Mash LP for it’s duration, finish with L-Luger to Bandwagon.

I know there’s some avenues for extending the combo further, particularly during the Cattelites… but I can’t handle the cats well enough to keep myself from accidentally poking the enemy and setting off IPS. Kinda hoping someone here can do that, though.

Getting good damage off cats is tough, since this game uses marvel3 style damage scaling - by the time you even launch, they’ve pushed damage scaling to the point where its pointless to do anything but attempt a throw reset.

They’re strictly a momentum super imo, like ouroboros (or what it should’ve been, anyway) The damage is awful (the damage is alright if you catch MF’s head undefended) but it makes everything pretty safe and the opponent can barely fight back during it.

throws are good to attempt since they will punt the opponent away where the cats wont interfere with your combo. basically the entire time cats are up, I will be throwing out lows and throw attempts (since you can’t tech crouching)

Found a corner only Parasoul loop:

Does ~4k by itself and doesn’t use your OTG or any air normals. You can cancel the last gun shot into car for ~4.5k or into lvl 3 and a midscreen combo for ~6.5k + whatever your combo does. You can also forgo the 3rd gun shot and combo from the hk to get ~3.75k + combo damage.

You can’t do Shari’s BnB though, so what loop do you do? How do you end it, as slide is no longer an option?

Also, on Bella, I cannot get Shari’s combo to work on the last avery to cLP. Any help. The avery always ends up hitting just once instead of all times.

EDIT: OK, fuck it, I can’t do it on any character. Either the projectile hits once and breaks the combo, or I don’t even bring them down with the barrel. I got it to work a few times, but now it’s failing every single time (the jLK jMP jHP barrel part). HALP!

Soo this is a Double combo I did today. It can almost kill a trio character. It costs 3 bars. i did it one Parasoul in this video but i’m sure it works on everyone else as well. There might have to be a subtle change when you do it against Cerebella or Painwheel. But for the most part is should be legit. It also works midscreen.

Here’s the notation: J.HP, St.LK, MK, MK, HK, (jump) J.MP, (delay)J.HP, (jump)J.LK, J.HP, S.MK, MK, HK , (jump)J.MK, J.HK, M. Item Drop, S.LP, LP, MK, MK, HK, (jump)J.LP, JMK, M item drop, C.LK, C.HP, H. Hornet Bomber, Lvl 3.

You can see in the top right corner that it wrecks that life bar. If you don’t have the 3 meters, you can replace the lvl 3 with bandwagon rushdown.

Btw is there any trick to doing a consistent jHK into barrel that will make the enemy restand 100%? Beacuse i could could only do like 1 loop after hours of confusion in training mode. I swear that i saw all ways to fumble it like,
getting the barrel but no jHK,
getting the jHK but the barrel wont come out,
getting the jHK and the barrel but the barrel misses them and the avery hits them in the air only,
hitting them with the avery but then the barrel drops too late.
Maybe im just too tired…
