DotA 2

haha that’s a great vid.

Meepo. <3

I’m one of the few people I know who actually like playing him lol.

I wish I knew how to win a game with Techies. Area denial/zoning is nice but it never seems to contribute enough to make or break a game.

Meepo bug was fixed already. Good to see Valve on it pretty fast.

Techies is really only good at setting up traps and slowing down pushes/base defense. Outside of that, the hero doesn’t really contribute anything to the team.

Wait, to be fair the gold bounties were pretty much the same 3 years ago. 3 years ago the version was something like 6.6x or some shit iirc.

Gold bounties aren’t JUST a comeback mechanic. IDK exactly when gold bounties reached their current status (more or less) but back when they were extremely shitty (like idk 6-7 years ago? idk about the version number but it was still when Razor was win button, I think somewhere near 6.3x or 6.4x), dota played pretty much like how LoL is now: a farm fest. There were almost no ganks, and clashes were only for late game or mayyyybe mid game if your carry farmed really well. Gold bounties gave ppl an incentive to actually do stuff early to mid game other than farm.

The quick-paced nature of dota didn’t exist until gold bounties were improved, so I don’t think it’s fair to say they shouldn’t be part of the game. I guess if you are into hardcore farming, then yeah it’s okay to say that. (seriously though the game was all about farm, all the heroes farmed during early to mid game, not just carries)

The new gold bounty in 6.82 is fucking nuts though. :coffee:

EDIT: also, it’s about time the damage rework came lol. The previous multiple damage types were just by-products of the limitations of the wc3 engine. I thought they were gonna smoothen that out when they first released dota 2, although maybe they just left it in at first so the feel of things wouldn’t change too much

Been practicing Phoenix lately, although it’s a shame its not in Captain’s Mode yet. Fun hero, but not as busted as TB and not in CM for whatever reason.

BWARK BWARK

Had a good game a couple of days ago, and the first game where I can say my contribution really made the difference needed to win the match.

I learned Techies is extremely good at split pushing relatively safely; contributing (arguably) the best base defense in the game and taking enemy towers at the same time. 10 second CD, one button wave clear is nuts. He eats towers too. I think it’s like four mines to down a T1 at level 7.

I love this hero, but he’s really a lot harder than he seems like he’d be. I’d like to apologize to everybody involved in my future matches.

I don’t think it’s balance that determines being in CM as much as how recent there’ve been drastic changes to a hero, and Phoenix has been getting heavy tweaks constantly since her inception.

Not to say she’s balanced. I have no idea if she is, but I usually end up having a huge impact on the games where I support with the bird.

EDIT: Here’s my dotabuff for giggles

Techies is pretty tricky to play. He can split push fairly well but his MS is really slow and he’s really squishy, making him very easy to gank. The best techies I’ve seen/played with essentially split pushed and constantly mined up enemy jungle so we had control of it all game. Pretty much if you only have mines in lane or at rune spots, you’re not having a high enough impact.

Phoenix is in CM in DotA 1 (like Techies), so I’m not really sure why its not enabled in DotA 2. I don’t think the hero has been changed too drastically lately; just minor tweaks to nerf it.

Guess I’ll link my dotabuff too since you did. B)

Dotabuff says you’ve never played Elder Titan. Something about that list of your most played heroes makes me think you’d like Elder Titan. Try Elder Titan.

I like that hero, he’s fun.

I’m slow to try out heroes I don’t know how to play. He’s kind of a weird hero to me, and I normally only play play making heroes.

How to play Elder Titan effectively:

Step 1) Max Aura
Step 2) Stand Near Fights

That is all.

Yep, pretty much. Always been like this. If he’s causing issues outside of that then people are doing something wrong.

I remember in DotA 1… Tiny + Techies could be a full on troll pick that was effective.

  1. Throw techies.
  2. Suicide.
  3. Tiny push lane.
  4. Repeat.

Memories lol… Time to make new ones in DotA 2.

ESL One New York has been live for a bit.

Double post since a different topic.

Tinker is fucking dead in competitive play. Haven’t seen any picks or bans since the patch, but unfortunately datdota.com has not been updated for 6.82. I know some of you seem to think he wasn’t nerfed enough, but that hero appears to be super dead as far as competitive play goes.

thanks

Good to see more nerfs to the more common heroes like DP, Razor, and Brew, although I doubt it’s enough to make those heroes less popular in competitive play at the moment.

Brew not getting enough nuff. Hes in 9 of 10 games i play now

Yeah I have no idea what to do against the panda. His ult just wrecks everything - teamfights, 1v1, whatever. It’s super obnoxious that they’re magic immune.

Shoutouts to Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne.

The most stacked fucking match I’ve ever played.

After recently getting to being firmly in the high skill bracket, matchmaking throws me into very high skill with this shitfest. It was so bad, I have to post about it.

After our picks (yeah), we immediately do not have a courier. I had no idea this still happens. PA throws a shitfit about two 1s in the same lane (rightfully so, because Spectre picked next to last which is the stupidest thing I have ever seen) and walks to bot with DS. I don’t know what happens but both side lanes get destroyed, Axe comes flying out of top lane fed as balls before I’m even level six and walks all over the entire match. Spectre says she’s going to feed and “you’re not getting any help from me in the next 50 minutes”, DS starts walking down mid feeding, it’s horrible.

It really, really bothers me this is a loss that is going to go on my record.

EDIT: Why the hell are they buffing Terrorblade?
