OBTW. Due to the topic of Nyx counters i went right away to google and found a Dota 2 site that seems to have counter lists (not fully agreeable). Anyway, in that site i found a Hero who appears to be unlisted, i’m thinking it could be a leak or something?
Doesn’t this depend entirely on Techies’ attack/cast point being quicker than Dismember?
And does Ursa really counter Naix? I’d like to think Naix would still eat him in a fight, especially since Ursa likes to stack health…Claws isn’t THAT much damage.
It actually depends if the player is fast enough to suicide. Techies doesn’t counter Pudge on a face to face type of thing (with out the right items…) but as a team supporter, he does. The whole free warding that techies does to pudge can potentially slow down his early-mid game; and since techies is normally given force, euls/ginso after Ag’s he just has allot of useful tools to save teammates from Pudge. QoP, Blood, Abaddon, and Doom is likely the list but techies is an interesting thing to take note which i listed him.
Even if let’s say Ursa counters Naix, the chances of Ursa actually getting picked in a game is very low. That hero simply has way too many problems to even be picked up as a counter pick to Naix.
Well, that goes for pretty much the entire list. Bad heroes to counter other bad heroes. A counter list is never going to be applicable to any type of high (or even mid) level play anyway, so you might as well go full out pub mode and just compare two heroes in a vacuum. Like this
Ursa is only a counter to Naix if Naix and his team are garbage. If I see the other team has an Ursa that is staying out of lane, regardless of if I’m Naix or not, observer and sentry wards are near that pit from 5 minutes onwards. As for the other counters you listed, some are valid (Naix being good against health stacking heroes, for example) but a lot seem really weird, like you just randomly connected them. Where is this Silencer > Tiny counter coming from, by the way? It’s strangely common but in my experience (even against good Silencers) it doesn’t seem like any more of a hard laning matchup than Tiny vs [insert ranged mid here]. I assume it’s to do with Curse of the Silent and the fact that Tiny’s abilities cost a fuck load, but CotS is only good in the laning phase and for all intents and purposes Tiny doesn’t need to use mana to excel during that, not to mention that it doesn’t do nearly enough damage by itself to be a hard counter against him.
I’ve seen teams like Pulse (are they still around?) and NEXT.kz pick up Ursa (and I think at least one top tier team as well), but I can’t recall the setting and I doubt either team would open a best of 3 series with an Ursa pick. Ursa+wisp is a strong combo I’ve seen used successfully, but I can’t really see a reason one would go Ursa rather than sven/ck/tiny, hell, even riki feels more viable.
Ursa is still highly used in other areas because he is that strong. Ursa out of lane? Ursa players usually mix it up from farms to lanes. All is needed is vlads or mask, dagger, BKB to become a killer and he is one of the fastest farmers who can take Rosh earlier than Naix can.
Silencer counters tiny both in lane and in team fights. Tiny is in need of his basic dagger, toss, stun with out it he can’t kill; he can only walk around and hope some one gets stunned from attacking him (given that this is already late game and his 3rd skill is maxed). Global silence or any of his moves shuts it. In lane which means the game is at early-mid game, silencer forces tiny to use his mana, either use or have it drained = no mana for tiny’s at that stage regardless of bottles being there. So the farming will really suck.
So, one of the biggest things is that I’m still hella confused about who goes in what lane atm. Like I’m just picking random heroes and doing whatever. Is there a resource I can use.
My friend and I are duoing, and he likes to play support, and generally I like to play carries, so we’re trying to figure out the lane combinations that are good, and what heroes are carries and supports and so far we have nada.
Most of them are classified under their class when you look at them in game, which is the little icons next to their picture. However, http://dota2alttab.com/ is an amazing resource to look at what you should generally be doing for most heroes so that you can get a quick grasp of what you should build and how you should set your skills. What heroes are you having trouble finding a role for?
