Yeah I was wondering how refraction worked after a while. Maybe it’s my league mentality, but I feel like he ult needs to do damage on top of the slow. I don’t even really know how to build her. I usually get power treads or phase boots if I’m too slow, then I get a bkb, and after that I just build whatever item gives me agility.
For TA, your core items are bottle, phase boots and blink. Once you have those 3 items you are ready to kill any and all.
You want to start maybe 3 branches and a tango if you are confident in your last hitting and want to go for an early bottle. Set traps at rune spawns to give yourself a better way to control them. Her ult doesn’t need to do damage, its way too good, towers don’t target it iirc, but the true vision allows the other team to destroy it. It’s also very powerful because of its low cooldown you can continue to cast and blow them up when chasing meaning that most heroes won’t be able to escape a gank. Combined with refraction you can gank all over with ease.
You want to get one point in meld, and then start to max out refraction and psi blades. Because refraction has such a low mana cost you want to have it up as much as possible. Also because it goes away after 5 instances of damage, it lets her tower dive to stupid degrees. 5 instances, you could pop it, get hit by lion’s ult, lina’s ult, zues ult, etc, and block all of them until 5 things hit you. On top of that it gives her +80 damage! That’s just under a sacred relic and claymore worth of damage by level 7!
The trick once you have a blink is to blink next to someone (with refraction up), meld, hit them to lower the damage and then after a couple right clicks they die. It’s stupid. You want to max out psi blades and refraction to have a higher chance of killing whoever you gank. Higher damage and larger attack range.
Phase boots just lets you move faster and have higher damage, all things TA needs.
So in lane just last hit, try to line up the opponent if you can when you last hit to harass if you can. Whenever a rune spawns you want to try to gank a sidelane if you can, If you get a haste someone should die for sure, Invisibility too.
After you get blink and phase your next item will vary, depending on the lineup a BKB will be very beneficial, you can kill people easier and die even less. If your very confident in your play you can go for a deso and then people die more than more before. If you’re feeling really randy. Crit stick.
Those are usually the next 3 items you should shoot for, deso and BKB first for sure, after those two you can go for crit or manta depending on your fancy.
Thats about it for TA. Not much more than that. Phase, blink, kill. (You can also turn the starting branches into a magic stick, which is NEVER a bad idea on any hero).
So in the end, Phase, Bottle, Blink, BKB, Deso, Manta, Deadalus, MKB. If you haven’t won by then. . . You suck at dota.
TA’s ult is goddamn amazing since she gets a fuckload of free wards AND an AOE stun with low cooldown. Doesn’t need anything else.
She usually gets bottle first. Blink is good on her because she is a great ganker, but you might need to go damage instead or bkb. Pro games usually build a deso on her for her first damage, then go MKB or daedelus.
I’ve NEVER seen manta on TA.
