Telling new people to random is terrible advice. Learning heroes can be done by watching your opponents, and is much less important than learning the game in the first place.
Commendations work by opening the Scoreboard (I think default key for that is Z? I don’t know, it’s a table that pops into your screen from the left and stays there as long as you have the respective button pressed)*, rightclicking a name, “Commend Player”, and clicking on 1-4 of the square boxes.
*Or waiting for the Scorechart popup at the end of a game
You find a lot of statistics at https://dotabuff.com , though things like “my avg lasthits per match” are missing currently.
Also, while the learning curve seems steep, everyone sucks donkeyballs and you only affect the games outcome by 20% anyways, so it doesn’t really matter if you’re bad. Don’t be afraid.

Also found out that his mana burn is op. Only vs Intel and when he has ethereal
Yeah. His shield doesn’t block to much. Returns slight damage but some spells & attacks get through.
I’ve capitalized off the return stun a # of time though.
For the most part he’s bad. Also, you mean NA.

Phenomenally annoying character.
I’m not calling him strong or not, everything in Dota has counter play; he’s simply really annoying to play against. Really, really annoying. It’s worse than having a bloodseeker on the other team when I’m in a pub.

I’ve noticed two important things
Undying with Magic Stick is awesome. Flesh Golem makes Charge is nearly endless.
Phoenix is autoban broken when built right. I just went against an Invoker, Phoenix, Earthshaker, PL, and Pit lord team and it was Phoenix that was the biggest pain in the ass. Dagger, health/armor, agies was broken
I play some semi-serious Dota 2. Have a crew that plays Captain’s Mode.

KOTL is countered with wards. One ward in his usual hiding spot will let you farm while dodging illuminates.

Drow Ranger is a pretty bad carry. 
i think most people here play dota 2, rather than certain characters.
