Don's Arcade Torrance Headquarters (SFIV & 3rd strike casuals) Every Friday 7pm-11pm

how the fuck am I? who the fuck are you?

and what makes you think I was asking for your advise? I posted a RANT about losing and I said I better practice. I’m not new to the tourney scene I used to play marvel and I wasn’t the best but I was pretty decent. I’m not new to the tourney scene, the people, I know what it takes to be good, SFIV is not my first game, you don’t fucking know me at all, you don’t know my background, you don’t know my goals(i.e. FUN) you are just making assumptions and they are incorrect. Don’t try to be all humble with the honest advise stuff when you start your advise calling people scrubs and shit and then take offense on my responce.

Josh you seriously need to relax. You need to check that attitude of yours and learn some manners because it too has been wearing me thin. I also have been hearing it from others too. I warned you too many times already. Don’t make it escalate to a point where I have to kick you out and ban you from these gatherings because I will. I actually been thinking about it these last two weeks.

We are lucky that a guy like Symbolic, who is actually part of the scene, is attending our no name no reputation gatherings.

So relax and stop being annoying because right now you’re on my last fucking nerve.

nice one man, I take it you are calling me a leecher now? didn’t I just told you that starting next week I was going to pitch in for you electricity costs and shit so people don’t have to pay entry fees?

team torrance is been around for a very long time, I used to host shit in my place, we hosted some at Al’s we’ve been going around trying to make a scene down here. I’m doing this for the area not to get some games in myself, how long did I have to ask you before you finally agreed to host these gatherings and bring people in. I told you we would bring our setups, but you didn’t want to, you keep buying all this equipment and that’s great, you are a good host but it’s not needed. I’ve taken way to many insults from you the past 2 weeks so I will just stop going, I hope you don’t stop the gatherings because of me.

Josh please stop telling lies. You didn’t tell me shit about helping me pay for anything. Not that I asked you of course because I’m not asking anybody for anything. I don’t want anyone’s money. So don’t insult me like that. And I never charged anyone any entrance fees and I don’t care about the electrical bill. It’s not even that bad because it’s only once a week.

It’s your attitude I don’t like. You forget who the owner of the property is and you talk to me with the utmost disrespect. You need to learn some manners. I think being the cohost of these gatherings had gotten to your head. Who made you the authority of Torrance? You are not the authority of Torrance. No one is. You didn’t even grow up in Torrance. I grew up in Torrance so stop with all this Team Torrance bullshit. You are not a fucking authority on this. Once you get that bs out of that big head of yours then we could talk again.

I’m sorry we had to air our dirty laundry like this but this is the only way to get to you.

Whoa whoa whoa. Can’t we just get along and settle our differences with fireballs and air-throws?

I used to be on the pro circuit for Counter-Strike and CS:Source before getting into fighting games in the last year or so, so I know what it’s like to travel long distances to tournaments, only to lose in your first game. But eventually, we hit the top-tier, started playing the best, and made a fair bit of coin.

Like any form of competition, you just gotta take your lickings and try to grow from them. Sit down with your team, with yourself, figure out what you did well, what your opponents did well, and what you did wrong… and just keep trying. You lose a lot, probably most of the time, because no one is just a “natural” at anything when it comes to competition. Experience and brains is everything.

I hope everyone cools down and we can continue to kick it with Don and keep playing, whether it’s for fun, for practice, or for cut-throat competition. I’d like to start attending SF4 tournaments, and I know I’m no where near the talent of decent competitive players… but I’m just slowly working my way up, adding tools to my arsenal. I’m still bad as fuck, I just try to be humble.

I co-sign this statement, i think these gatherings have been great… I really need to get better and im sure all of us want to get something cool out of this. So lets just keep it in the game. Peace!

Moderator it’s Don the host. Please kill this thread. I’m starting over. Thank you.

i was going to post a rant in here but… why bother…

long story short, josh is cool peeps. he doesnt deserve the comments hes getting when concerning fighting games. NONE OF US ARE PRO.

remember that before giving advice on having the right mindset, just because someone enters a tournament doesnt make them a good player and just because someone goes to an arcade doesnt make them great, i’ve beaten the crap out of tons of arcade regulars that just suck plain and simple… case in point a 70 game winstreak at AI…

but a 70 game winstreak at an arcade full of scrubs at the time means nothing, winstreaks mean nothing.
being good is all that counts.
the arcade isnt some shangri-la? of “if you play here then you are a top player” skills rub off.

ive played valle and almost all of the top so cal sf4 players countless times… doesnt make me on their level though… AT ALL.

p.s. don if you want a mod to close this thread, you should pm them.

they dont have time to look through every thread and see requests.

Relax with the drama. I had some request to lock and start new. Please co-exist with each other. It’s not worth losing friend and hurting your scene over trivial drama. Thread closed for new one.
