Don’t worry Lenin I wouldn’t worry about deaththreats from SF4 players. They’re not gonna do nothing. It’s deaththreats from 3S players I’d be worry about.
Deaththreats from CvS2 players would probably be serious business since no one plays it.
If there is one thing you don’t do, is diss CvS2. Most who play the game are old school and I get the feeling that they do not appreciate the new kids on the block.
Everyone going to EVO remember to wrap it up. What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. Don’t be like my friend The Martian who went to TJ last weekend and didn’t wrap it up. That guy is an idiot.
TJ isn’t Vegas.
TheMuffinMan is a scrub. Scrape that guy 24/7 in CvS2.
Can’t wait to grub in vegas! lol buffets, filipino food @ Cafe Moda, or Hawaiian Food @ California hotel. Yup Yup!
INTERESTING Interesting interesting
interesting
No, this is interesting.
SANCHEZ is in EVO’s 3rd Strike Grand Master exhibition on Sunday.
So on the “other” website, I read that Ono announced a balance patch for Arcade Edition.
Really I want to hear your thoughts Don. I know that you were concerned about the future of this game.
Standing in this long ass line at Pink’s hotdogs in Hollywood lol.
It all depends on how the balance works out. But the bad news is that the console and the arcade version will not be the same. Bad news for So Cal arcades who invested in AE.
But overall I’m not really fond of the 4 series. I like the players but the game is just scrubby. I always hated the combo system. Three croutching jabs and a fierce shoryuken is a combo? Three strongs in a row is a combo. Turtling wins. Not my cup of tea. What pisses me off the most is that the arcade community and console community will be divided once again. If Capcom just ported Super to the arcade as it was in console then everything would’ve been fine. Super to the community is the most balance so the definitive arcade and console version should have been super. I just want the whole world on the same page when it comes to SF 4. Is that too much to ask?
3S is the game that makes SF worth while for me. I hope it continues to last a long time.
The twins have no reason to be in SF4. I like the idea of how people say Super was well balanced. It should have stopped there. Capcom had it right then.
But maybe I’m just an old man but I’m not really impressed with people who are good at SF4. It’s not that hard to be good at SF4.
How good is good?
Put it this way, playing SF4 is like “Making love without nothing at all”.
My dad was singing that song on his karaoke all day yesterday and now that song is in my head:p.
My point is, if there is a point, like the song says you can’t make love to something if it’s not there lol. Playing SF4 is so sterile and without any passion or any soul. It’s a robotic game without a heart beat. It’s a cold dull game. I respect good SF4 players and MVC3 players but I’m not impressed by them simply because what I think they do doesn’t take artistry or passion but what they do is solve math problems: This will beat this if you do this.
It takes an artist to do what Daigo did to Justin Wong in that legendary 3S match. Everything is so carbon copy in SF4.
SF4 is not a bad game it’s just for me it’s so hollow.
Does your Evo stream keep freezing every 2 seconds?
I can’t really call it hollow because there is still a lot of going into this game. I mean I heard stories where fighting games were a dying breed and if I recall, it was around 2005/2006 that the community started to halt; wasn’t growing. I didn’t touch Third Strike until I saw that Daigo vs Justin Wong match.and I saw it around probably 06/07.
Street Fighter 4 came out and then we saw a resurgence of fighting games. Is it easy to play? Yea, but there are still a few hard things about the game. (Like those pesky 1 frame links.).
For me, Street Fighter 4 is just an entry game. It is one of those games that has enough going for it in order to be a competitive game, but if you really want to invest in fighting games then take it a step further and start playing older stuff. I think you can say that I am a product of this game. I followed fighting games for a few years, played it very casually but didn’t really start investing until HD Remix came out on Xbox Live. Then Street Fighter 4 was out and I started to get into it even more.
You know what, Sugafree I think you hit it on the head. I know I wasn’t who the question was directed at but I think that sums it up nicely.
SF4 has enough of what an entry level game needs to get people into, hooked, and play a lot of it and branch out into more. Look at people who played SF4, jumped to mess around with SF2, and toyed around with 3S. It spread the love around all over, and people can say it didn’t, and I can see how they would think that, given the amount of popularity SF4 has now over the other two; however, look at what came out in the SF generation after 4. HD:Remix, and now 3rd Strike online? I think it’s a good to say SF4 is an entry way, but I won’t be the one to say that it’s only an entry game, because there’s a good amount of tech involved in SF4 that makes it a good game.
And this is coming from a guy that called SF4 “Street Fighter Bore” because that’s how I saw it before. But give it a whirl looking at people play at EVO and the tournaments around the state. It looks like ass more than half the time because more than half the time you don’t have the higher quality players playing it. They are the ones I watched to get out of my “SFBore” regime. It’s a fun, fun fun game if you’re into technical fundamentals.
Is there anyone you can put 3S back in the smoke shop when the fall semester starts by any chance?
I’m planning on doing it.
So Don, since Japan took Evo again are they still the best?
Or does Latif eliminating Tokido, Daigo, and Poongko back to back make America the better players?
I only watched Day 2 of Evo but I enjoyed it much. I might just go next year.
I’m glad the Japanese are victorious again. For me that tradition of the Japanese being the best must never change. It was like that when I was a kid and it’s still the same today. I’ll wave the Japanese flag for SF any day. Latif was a freak props to him. Daigo got beat bad. I think he stayed too late at the strip club last night. Something was really off about him. No excuses though The Beast got Beasted.
The AE tournament goes to show that AE doesn’t need a patch. It should stay the same as it is.
On a side note the Japanese deserved to be humbled by Latif. Tokido and the others were showboating too much. Nothing wrong with showboating I love it but I think it threw them off their game. They got too cocky. They didn’t back it up. They need to work on their showboating skills and backing it up. I think they took it for granted. They been kicking so much USA ass for so long they thought it was gonna be easy again. I think next time they’ll be focused.
Why must the Japanese be the best though? Whats wrong with Americans (or any other country for that matter) being better? IMO, I don’t mind it when other countries take the crown. This reminds me of the soccer/football mentality. European teams = best and when another country gets a super star player, they fly their ass over to Europe. Of course this also has to deal with money since European leagues play well. But still, I like it when people rep their location and strive to be the better than everyone else.
