The shortcuts, I think, are mostly for anti-airing with Shotos. They let you stay in a crouching position for optimal timing for invincibility.
I don’t use shortcuts, and I see what you did there with methods part. lol.
As for people that use, I swear I noticed a few heads using them when I used to go for the ssf4 days at Don’s.

Hmm. Actually I never thought about using the short cut DF / DF for an uppercut to stay crouching. I’ve had better luck breaking my wrist to pull it off in the same moment for the same effect than going Tap Tap.
However, it’s never been about having short cut methods for specials and such, I think it’s been more about how much of a time gap you have to input the command and button versus the older games that’s kind of a sore. That’s been my understanding of some hate for it, and been my understanding of why these new games are more accessible ( Accessible != Easy ).

It varies, but I pretty much got it down to Chun Li, Cammy and Sagat as my main team. Sometimes I switch around with: Honda, Ken, Guile, Akuma, Vice, Raiden, and Yamazaki.
I actually really like Raiden here. He hits hard.
Ok I use Mai, Benimaru, and Rugal, and also Terry, Cammy, Akuma, Guile, Ryu, Ken, Sagat, Bison, and more other random junk.
