You will do great man I need to get my ironman up to par like how u have dead pool. So long as u know how to block wolverine and zeros cross ups should be fine.
I have that book. It’s awesome. The Alpha 1 book is great also since it’s made by the same company. The Alpha 3 book is crap. Maybe because of all the Ism’s it would have ended up a thousand page book if they put the same effort they did in the A2 book.
I had a lot of fun with the Alpha series because there was a big arcade scene here for it (Alladin’s Castle for A1 and Hermosa Arcade for A2 and A3). Unlike 3S it was immediately popular in the arcades here when it first came out. Too bad it doesn’t have the longevity of 3S but maybe because there’s a big dispute on which the definitive version is. I mean you don’t really see anyone prefer 2I over 3S these days. I admit the artwork is superior in the first two “3” games but the game engine is perfect in 3S. There’s a sluggish feel in NG and 2I. 3S is super smooth.
I completely agree with you on the engines and flow of the SF3 generation games. Only thing I see preferred amongst the older games usually falls into Yang should have had his low LK low MK chain in 3rd Strike, and Sean should have never been messed with from his 2nd Impact version. God bless that retarded Dragon Punch of his back then.
Art work wise, I’m a little torn between them. One thing I liked a lot about the older games was that it looked more comic book sketchy and I can’t explain it but I’m more keen on that style than most a lot of the time.
And I thank whoever changed Alex’s voice for 3rd Strike.
You got a board for A3? I’ll play that
Had a lot of fun last Friday i’m hoping to go again this week. Sorry had to take off after a couple of hours but being limited by public transportation schedule is a pain in the ass. I think I might try to stay until 3 this time around if theres enough people staying that long and i’ll just catch the bus and metro rail in the morning since I just found out they start running again at 4, so all I would have to do is burn an hour afterwards.
Fake Edit: I just learned how close I actually am to WNF so I’m going to take the Green Line over there today and check it out.

Lol. “You can’t escape.”
Well like a lot of first SF’s in the series i.e. World Warrior, Alpha 1, NG, Super 2, and even Vanilla, all the games feel unfinished and much is to be desired. A lot of people complain about the many updates that Capcom does to their fighting games. I actually welcome them because Capcom is one of those rare companies that try to perfect their games. Having said that however, I think they did go overboard with Alpha 3 Upper. They should of stopped at Alpha 3 and make Alpha 3 in home console and the arcade the same. This is another reason why the Alpha series is problematic. The home and arcade have big differences. I don’t think T. Hawk, Fei, Dee Jay, and Guile were necessary. Just have the same universal game in all formats.
Btw I now have Jill and Shuma on both the PS3 and Xbox. All the characters are now available for this Friday. I now have $10 or 800 points left on each system. It looks like they’re two slots left for two more characters. I’ll be saving those extra points for those two downloads who ever they turn out to be.
remember that back then, the technology for arcade perfect ports just wasn’t there yet.
i think mvc2 DC was the first game that was 99.9% arcade perfect, followed by cvs/cvs2. even 3S DC wasn’t arcade perfect. hahah remember xvsf and mvc1 where it was 1v1 because there wasn’t enough vram to load two characters?
alpha collection is arcade perfect but people already left for next gen by then.
i wasn’t an arcade guy until mvc2, so i never really got into anything before it. when i played way after, no one played a2/a3 anymore so they were never really that fun.
also, A2 music is like, the 2nd sf standard for music. if they don’t rip the music from original SF2, the next choice is A2. it’s also been said that the US would’ve killed Japan in A2. =) A3 was the start of valle vs. daigo, so…
Now I just feel like a complete idiot for not realizing that now when I was thinking back to the times when I did play those games at home with a couple of friends. It all makes sense now.
I like this well thought out response but I highly doubt that America would’ve killed Japan in Zero 2/Zero 3. Japan back then in the Zero days and still has today a way better arcade scene. There was always and is now a better SF culture there then was here. Even in Vegas during the Alpha 2 days when I was in an arcade called Mary Kay’s, all the Japanese tourist there were just dominating everyone. One reason why I played SF for so long is because my Japanese neighbor who lived across the street from me would come over everyday and we’d play Street Fighter hardcore. Every year he’d visit Japan and when he’d come back, he’d come up with things I’d never seen before. He’d also go on Japanese websites back in the day and read about how to do the combos in Japanese. This was especially in the Zero2/Zero3 days. That’s why I had so much fun in the Alpha series. It was such a creative time.
On home console versions of arcade games: Actually Xmen Vs Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Street Fighter were arcade perfect on Japanese Sega Saturn with that 4 Ram cart. Vampire Savior and SF Zero 3 were as good as the arcade if not for the extra characters that didn’t exist in the arcade.
If it were not for the loading time Alpha 1 on PSX was pretty much arcade perfect. MVC2 and CVS2 were arcade perfect on DC because the arcade and the Dreamcast ran on the same hardware i.e. The Sega Naomi. Super Turbo and Third Strike are crap on the dreamcast.
Yes I have an A3 board and it will be in this Friday:)
never said anything about a3, i think that’s when japan started to run away in terms of skill level. just look at the usa vs. japan 5v5.
as for a2, we’ll never know because back then it just wasn’t possible like it is now. ask your hero valle about a2.
it’s creative nowadays too.
things just spread way faster nowadays. to get a combo back then meant you had to go to shgl, having it performed on you, somehow figure out how it’s done, take it back to your arcade and use it on other people and teach them.
now we have youtube when someone invents an option select. you keep complaining that no one is creative or that only the japanese are creative nowadays which is entirely untrue.
you’ll have to check on SRK for that. for sure sfa3 was not arcade perfect, hitboxes and vc invincibility were not arcade accurate.
FFFFFFFFFFFFF, don’t tempt me to drive out lol
Even tho I own it already haha
Lol come over again and get your A3 on.
We shall have a gathering tomorrow starting at 7pm. Anyone new who wants to join please text me at 310 344 9367. Everyone is invited. The more the merrier. See you tomorrow.
Can you get some of the SSF4 costumes? T. Hawk #2 !!!
Sorry Lee, the points are only on the consoles where MVC3 are played:(
I now have all the characters for both systems. So now with the downloads in MVC3 you can’t really switch games on my setups and have the full effect since not all my consoles have dlc’s. So if you did swap a MVC3 on the consoles where SSF4 is played then there would be no Jill or Shuma on that set up:(
So for the record I have two set ups with all the MVC3 characters and two setups of SSF4:)
Dang Marvel for taking over the world.
We shall have a gathering tonight starting at 7pm. All are invited. The more the merrier. I’ll be going around to collect the $5 E fee so please have it ready for me when I ask for it. Anyone new please PM me on srk.com or text me at 310 344 9367. But the best way to get to me is text. Hope to see y’all here.
