@don: can you take me off the cell phone text message?
also i don’t feel like looking up your arcade stuff. it takes a lot of work and my japanese learning side is already occupied with all sorts of blogs/news/novels, traipsing the internet to do price comparisons especially with shipping/tax/bank transfers and figuring out what something technical in english means in japanese… is very difficult
it took me a long time to find out what “security key” was in Japanese. i think i had to download the arcade manual in japanese and read the entire thing to find out.
But did you happen to find out how much 3S Japanese security carts cost? That’s probably the only thing you can get from Japan exclusively. You could probably get the other things I mentioned on eBay.
We shall have a gathering tonight starting at 7pm. All are invited. The more the merrier. I’ll be going around to collect the $5 E fee so please have it ready for me when I ask for it. Anyone new please PM me on srk.com or text me at 310 344 9367. But the best way to get to me is text. Hope to see y’all here.
Anyone new who is new to the scene and thinks they have MVC3 talent or (SSF4 talent), join us and see how you fair.
this was based off of last december when i need to know what the security key was for the naomi. i don’t even know what a security cart is in english so it’s gonna be difficult to figure out what it is in japanese.
and based on recent events
guess we’re not gonna be getting anything from there for a while…
I know I’m livin in the past again when I say this but:
Alpha 3 is so fun especially when I use X-Ism Balrog Boxer, X-Ism Ryu, V-Ism Cody, and A-Ism Guy. Even when I play the computer Alpha 3 is so fun. I tried Alpha 2 today as well and it was cool but I still don’t see how this game is superior to Alpha 3. Come on there’s no Karin in Alpha 2. And yes I’m only talking about the CPS-2 arcade versions. IMO playing Alpha 2 is like playing a slower redrawn version of Super Turbo. And you might as well just play Super Turbo. The reason why I say this is because besides the great artwork there is no real innovation in Alpha 2. It feels too much like original SF2 with nothing new to offer. Just use the Shotos and spam hadokens again. But with Alpha 3 there’s a whole new dynamic. It feels like a different Street Fighter and not just a redrawn SF2.
Never understood why Alpha 2 is considered the best in the Alpha series by a lot of people. The artwork is probably the best in the series but not the gameplay. Alpha 1 is much more fun with it’s chain combo system. Using Alpha 1 Guy is like playing Marvel before Marvel. Alpha 1 Guy is so freaking fun. Not saying Alpha 2 is a bad game but it’s so basic. I mean I’d play it if other people were playing it but it’s an ok game.
So unlike the Three series in which Third Strike is the definitive version, there is no definitive version in the Alpha series. But don’t worry if I ever had a real arcade I’d have Alpha 1, Alpha 2, and Alpha 3 there so that there can be a choice:)
people like A2 because it doesn’t have the confusing juggling system and the whole -ism thing, except for valle cc it’s a really clean, sharp game
A3 is more tricky with the juggling system and at higher levels you have crouch cancel infinites and v-ism combos that are a pain to learn and remember. plus there’s like 3 different styles with x/a/v which made it real difficult for people to get into. and in the end v is just cheap as hell anyway, even w/o cc infinites, there are otg combos, insane invincibility frames, and huge damage combos anyway
A1 has really broken combos that do too much damage, plus capcom pretty much trashed A1 and had A2 replace it
Alpha 2 doesn’t do it for me. I mean the artwork is great. I love Ryu’s, Sakura’s, Rolento, Guy’s, Akuma’s, Zangief’s, and Adon’s stages. I think Capcom main focus in that game was the artwork. The gameplay, however, while not horrible, isn’t really fun. There’s no real innovation besides that cheezy CC system. It’s slower than Super Turbo and there is no guard meter. So basically A2 is a turtlely game where you build your super meter and wait to Alpha counter. And since you can keep building your meter you can just wait and Alpha counter the whole match. It’s such a stalling game. It’s a lot like SF4, only you can air block.
I loved the craziness of Alpha 1 especially with Guy. It is like a horizontal Marvel. It’s great. In that game the chain combos really worked. Birdie and Sodom were fun as well. I guess since the roster was so small and there were a lot of new characters, it felt like a different Street Fighter. Not really like a redrawn ST or SF2.
Now Alpha 3 is the best IMO. For me it was a game where you were always moving. There was always pressure because of that guard meter. And unlike Alpha 2, you couldn’t abuse the Alpha counter system. My main in that game was X-Ryu. He was so strong. Also pressing fierce punch for a level 3 super was much better then the unreliable pressing all three buttons for a level 3 in Alpha 2. Alpha 3 had more difficulty to learn then Alpha 2. And it had all the cool new characters that A2 didn’t have. Like Karin, Cody, Blanka, Vega Claw, and Balrog Boxer. A3 is just a great game. I still have a lot of fun playing it today.
In other news the PS store still doesn’t have the new characters for MVC3:(
Cool thanks for letting me know. I’ll wait till then. I won’t need it till Friday anyways.
As for the Alpha 2 talk: Birdie’s restroom stage, Gen’s Alley stage, and Ken’s Capcom stage are all super cool. I do admit the artwork for the stages in Alpha 2 are unsurpassed.
All this alpha talk makes me wish I played the game a bit more seriously than I did, especially more so than when I received the X hundred page book on the game with frame info and hit boxes as a gift.
Also, that’s sucky news that on the PSN store for the characters. The code that came with the Collector’s Edition worked fine for me this morning. Granted, not a huge fan of the new Jill, would have much rather had the MVC2 version, cap and all.
