Don's Arcade aka Astro City: Torrance/Carson Fridays 8pm-3am

Do you know how to read? I was Q and this happened around 2006-2007. I never used Ken. Ken is the last character I used. And the guy was nerdy, tall, and skinny.

If you want to try to kill me come over and try and tell me that to my face. 310 344 9367.

If I was in your face and I was certain it was you, I wouldn’t say anything, you never say anything about revenge, you just do it. But 2006? Yeah, I guess not.

Next time aim first before you shoot or you’ll get the wrong guy.

And remember when you go on the path of revenge make sure you dig two graves. One for the guy you’re killing and one for you.

Your phone’s answering service isn’t working.

I never received a missed call. So I have no idea what you’re talking about. What can you possibly ask me now? Text me at 310 344 9367.

You know if you kill me you’re not gonna get away with it. You just exposed yourself to srk which means everything is premeditated. Which also means murder in the first degree. Which also means life in prison. Which increases your chances of being analy raped in prison. You have so many witnesses here. And everyone at Regency. And on top of that I’m the wrong guy because I was playing Q and it happened 2006-2007. It’s just not a good plan man. You should think about it again.

That escalated quickly. Regency dudes are this violent?

You sure talked so big about sucker punching people before. Maybe I have the wrong guy, but you said there was video footage. If you’re innocent, what do you have to hide?

Look at this, all this talk about violence, and you try to take the high road.

As far as I know, no regency dudes threw any punches.

Had no idea I was on trial here. You a lawyer or something?

I always wanted to ask what you did with the jacket. You throw it away, or did you dry clean it?

No seriously, that was what I was going to ask you when I called.
But you’re right, forget it.

Look I should just leave it at this but I just want to make it crystal clear and that’s it. You’re obviously mad and you want someone to pay. And also the idea of these new people falling out of the sky reading all these old posts and quoting them out of the blue amazes me. I had no idea that people read this thread. I have no idea that we have an audience. Usually the guys who constantly posts here are people who come here and actually met each other in real life. And for you to bring this up right now is kind of a bummer. Because last Friday was an awesome night where we had 7 players from Nor Cal and 11 players from So Cal. So thank you so much for killing the good mood.

Like I said, if you read carefully what I posted, in 2006-2007, I was being heavily harassed by a tall skinny nerdy Asian looking guy when I was beating him with Q. The dude got so annoying that I left my game when I was winning. When I walked out, he followed me into the parking lot still bothering me. He was the aggressor. He was provoking. I was trying to walk away. I gave him many chances to go away but he didn’t want to. Yes I could’ve walked away after he insulted me one time too many times but he managed to piss me off so much that I had to get him. And it felt good lol. I’m six foot tall. The guy was around my height. It’s not in my nature to hit someone and just run away like a coward.

My advice to you: You need to stop holding this grudge because look what it’s doing to you. It’s making you attack innocent people who had nothing to do with it. You’re getting people involved in a conflict that they had nothing to do with. You said the guy hit you and ran away. If the guy hit you and ran away. That guy is a coward and you need to let it go. This grudge is not worth it anymore. It’s doing more harm than good. We were having a good time on this thread too and you just shit all over it with this mess. It was one of the few times that srk wasn’t being idiotic. But that’s ok. Because you had to find out but you’re wrong. Your facts don’t match. Your fact checking doesn’t add up. The dates, the heights, the circumstances are all off. Now just forget about it and let it go and move on. Ok I’m done.

Now I have the feeling someone is playing a prank on me. I made a lot of enemies on srk lol. You see what you did.

You know, I’ve been around for a while now, and even though I’ve heard most of the stories, been there when shit happened, and know that, yes, you do tend to say some silly things once in a while Don, having enemies because of how you are makes no sense to me. For every stupid thing I can probably recall you doing, there’s easily 10 good things I can think of that outweigh the bad. I’m positive all of the regulars could do the same with ease. People have opinions and egos – no shit. However, that shouldn’t ever be the reason why one person should hate another. It’s dumb, it’s immature, and it’s counterproductive for a community as niche as our own.

I don’t want to touch this nonsense involving the physical abuse, but I will say this much: if someone has the balls to touch ANYONE behind a game, let alone regurgitate idle verbal diarrhea because of Q players being Q players, then they need a reality check as far as the world we live in. Don’t bring out the “I’m just being a man” argument. That’s dumb. If you’re smart enough to understand the psychological prowess of a player in a fighting game, pull off complex conditioning routines at will, and can decipher between unconscious tendencies and deliberate actions, then you can most certainly exercise common-fucking-sense.

Thanks I appreciate it.

I just want to say whoever takes these Godforsaken srk thread too seriously either is A) Too fucking dumb or B) Doesnt have a life beyond sitting in front of their computer.

Come on this is srk where being a provocatuer, douchebag, and e thug is encouraged and sometimes rewarded. We do this because it’s rewarding and fun and enjoying in some oddly perverse blasphemous way and never meant to be taken seriously. I learned this the hard way in the past.

What I’m dissapointed in is that after coming out of the 25th tournament the posts that were on here were ethusiastic and constructive. We were building a good momentum. It was based on talking about the game and the community.

Then some guy from God knows what from God knows where comes out and shits all over the thread instead of personally talking to me first hence killing any sanity we were having in this thread.

Look I work hard with your help trying to build this small community we have and when I see you guys having deep discussions about the games it pleases me because it feels like I’m doing something right. But when a guy falls out of the sky comes in and craps all over without coming to me first to ask the right questions it irks me. It especially pisses me off because the first time in a long time we were having a good run in the thread.

Look this thread is important for the place. It can’t be tied up in bullshit conflict because it’s one of the few advertisements to my place. If we create a thread that looks hostile and scares people away then it’s counterproductive to what I do every Friday. I got a lot invested in the place. If you have a problem with me pm me first. Don’t get into a pissing contest for everyone to see. Because like I said if provoked I like playing the role of srk douchebag.

Here’s a warning to anyone who tries to test me and fuck with me:

I am one of the last arcades in So Cal. I don’t have to do this but I do it for the love of the community. If you wanna fuck with me then you risk losing this place and fucking it up for everyone who goes here.

I’m a reasonable guy who will listen to criticism but if your game is just to jerk with me then you’re making a big mistake. I don’t have to do this. I choose to. Take your shit somewhere else.

That’s it. I’m gonna try to cool off now.

It’s kind of the nature of internet. One person + anonymity + audience = complete asshole. Just take a read at the stream chat for any modern game, and you’ll soon realize how many idiots and man-children exist in the fighting game scene.

Back on the topic of games, I can easily talk to your ear off about anything fighting game related, especially if it’s about ST. You can literally ask me, “Tell me about Balrog,” and I’ll most likely type up a multi-paragraph essay complete with video examples and possibly foot notes.

Aww come on guys, let’s go back to ST talk :frowning: Shit was getting good.

Well, I will try to bring it back. This is on the subject of turn around punches. I never really found any reason to use this with the exception of holding a charge buffer for my dash punches. Holding down the 3 buttons is a problem for me. How do you guys do it? Rest the bottom of your hand on buttons while keeping fingers free? TAPs don’t go through fireballs do they? I just used headbutts as my “get out of fireball” tactic.

New Rule so I can bring sanity back to this thread:

I am no longer addressing you if I don’t know you or your tagname. This is the second time that this thread has got shitted on by guys I don’t know in the past two months.

If you really have something to say to me text me at 310 344 9367. And we’ll take it from there. So far no one has contacted me.

Nothing personal. It’s just the way I do business now. But if I know you I will address you. And if someone new does ask questions about my place, fellas who have been here feel free to answer their questions. I think it’s actually better if someone who goes here answers the questions rather than the owner. You get a better perspective from the players.

So let’s get this thread back to sanity lol.

There’s a few ways to hold TAP. The most common way is to hold it with the base knuckle of your hands, the part where your fingers attach to the hand. You hold all kicks with that, and use the 2nd or 1st knuckle of your fingers to press punches. It feels awkward at first, but this seems to be the easiest way. Mike Watson will claim that he was the first one in Socal to figure this out. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it certainly works.

The other way is to use your thumb, ring finger, and pinky, to hold the kicks. You use your pointer finger and middle finger to press punches. I’ve only seen a Japanese player use this method to hold TAP, but he’s one of the best Boxers in Japan, so he’s clearly able to control his character well.

TAP has a variety of uses, and requires that you’re able to somewhat control which level you want. Some boxers never use TAP, some boxers use it part of the time, and others use it a lot depending on the matchup. It’s a great way to build meter with or without charge, does good damage, and is safe on block if you can control which version you’re going to hit with. Against shotos, it’s a great way to proactively punish uppercut attempts. A lot of shotos will tend to go for the uppercut after Boxer’s st.fierce, and cr.strong, since that’s when most Boxer’s will use a dash punch. A TAP comes out slower, but the startup animation looks similar, so it will punish a bad uppercut for the knockdown. After that, you build a little bit of meter, get close to shotos, where you can go for meaty attacks, or bait out another reversal. Some players also tend to do cr.shorts or cr.jabs instead of uppercuts, which stops Balrog is he attempts to do dash uppers into tick throws, TAP can catch that as well.

TAP use varies between Boxers, but universally all of them use it in the Dhalsim match. A good Dhalsim will never let you get close to him, no matter what you do. A lot of Boxers try to counterhit his limbs using cr.forward, cr.strong, neutral fierce, and occasional dash punches to trade with Dhalsim’s fireball. You build meter and lame out. Boxers use Level 7 or 8 TAPS to push through Dhalsim in order to either trade with a limb, or hit Dhalsim in the face as he goes for a fireball. It does a TON of damage, and usually equals out the amount of damage Sim has done to you throughout the match. Once you get close to Sim, or you land a knockdown, that’s when you can lay on the pain.

TAP no longer is able to go through fireballs. That’s why they gave Boxer a headbutt, because in earlier versions of the game, he had no defensive moves. TAP is used mostly as a safe attack that builds a lot of meter, and sometimes they can lead to throw or headbutt mixups depending on how deep you land the TAP. It’s a great way to attack without having to lose charge, so that you can immediately go into a headbutt, super, or any of his dash punches, whenever you want.
