Hey Trailer Trash,

It’s nice to see you found a signal again to use the Internet. It’s been a while. Good Times.

In Don’s defense, weed is not a drug. Also, weed is a nickname we have for my combos because once I start em up it’s like floating in the air, all high and shit, waiting til the round is over because you are not coming down.

What is it with people looking to disparage this place anyway?

You mean why are people being people? Hell of a conundrum.

Taking a page from Dander’s book lol:

It would be nice if we could weed out that douche tool dsinnie from this thread.

Tomorrow we shall have a gathering. Anyone and everyone is invited. The more the merrier.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow:)

I will be here tmw with lenin and a bro.

I think he has both copies but I usually see it on the 360 setup.

Sweet, tomorrow’s gonna be a good 3S night.

Yes I will have a PS3 UMVC3 setup with two TE sticks ready for tonight.

Tonight we shall have a gathering. Anyone and everyone is invited. The more the merrier. I’ll be going around to collect the E fee so please have it ready when I asked. Anyone new who wishes to join us please text me at 310 344 9367.

Hope to see y’all tonight:)

Oh snap, people are going tonight? I was thinking that because of Revelations people wouldn’t be showing up.

You know, I might just drive up there tonight. I am working Saturday, I got to enjoy at least my Friday

Hey, ggs everyone. I fucking suck at Third Strike :frowning:

Don, there is a thread posted today about the shady stuff that went down at Revelations.

GGs all. You weren’t too bad, Suga. I couldn’t touch your Chun for the longest while we played. Thanks for the games Lenin, and shout outs to Tenren for the high level advice.

I’d only heard things about it, but never understood the whole story. That there’s a good read though, lots of people coming in to chime up about the event. And it also explains why I hadn’t seen anything for it on SRK or Eventhubs. Hah.

I could not get anything going with Hugo, and I am pretty much a Hugo main. You did some really nice mixups with Ibuki. The 50/50 game was so stressful lol. I pretty much guessed wrong every time. Honestly, I picked Chun out of desperation. I needed to play the poking game since I was getting wrecked when in close distance.

@Naked_Snake: I kinda had an idea what was up with Revelations, but only from a friend of a friend of a friend. Never any real details until I read that thread. I had my doubts about entering that tournament, now I am glad I never signed up.

I’m a bit on a hiatus at the moment from the games just because I’m fighting my boredom with things and my lack of interest in them, but I’ve been watching streams. I was questioning what was going on when I heard Spooky saying things about revelations a while back and why he wasn’t going. He had a serious dislike of what happened before and I tried digging a bit from there. Most of what I found out was from streams but it was super vague. That thread you supplied us with, however, lightened things up for me.

And then the stream TheAnswer was doing about an hour ago was great, too. Was hoping to get some things clarified like the issue with the fire department or the refunds, but god damn. Their reenactments were hilarious if they were actually spot on. Shoutouts to Combofiend to helping them out.

I’m thinking of picking things up again once the semester settles up, but we shall see. Too much World of Warcraft planning, and friends wanting to play DOTA2. @_@ Regardless, yeah, sounds like one hell of a boycott thing going on amongst the FGC for TL / Nelson, and I don’t blame any of it.

Damn shame what some people try to do to mess with the community.

Thank you everyone for joining last Friday night. It was fun. It was a 3S orgy lol:p Thank you Rufus, Jason, Hiro, Dan, Lee, Suga, Tenren, Karafail, Mr. 12, Dander, and Gasp. Thank you everyone and let’s try this again on Friday.

Sugafree: I put CVS2 in another cab with better controllers. So it should be here all the time for you to play on.

I rewired the former cabinet that CVS2 was once on and now that cabinet works great as well. To test controller out on my machines I always play Alpha 3 Guy and to my amazement I got addicted to Alpha 3. I kept playing it for two hours straight and that was just against the computer aka ā€œcomp stompinā€ lol.

After wrestling with this idea for quite sometime I realized that Alpha 3 is a far superior game than Alpha 2. It’s just more free flowing. Alpha 2 is sluggish. It’s like comparing 2nd Impact to 3S. The last game in the series is the best. Alpha 3 (arcade version) is no doubt Capcom’s masterpiece. But here’s the big one: Alpha 3 is also a better game than ST. Yes I know that’s blasphemy but IMO A3 is a better game than ST. ST is still classic and great but the A3 engine is so creative while still retaining that old school feel. It’s a forgiving game than ST. In ST you can die in 5 seconds but in A3 you can still play. I repeat ST is still a great game but I think A3 is more relavent and modern for today’s gamer as well as the OG. With the anime graphics and the fast but strategic gameplay Alpha 3 is a great game that endures. It’s like AE 2012 but not random and much smoother and less turtley. Guy and Cody, among others, are their true selves here. Old school characters like Zangief and Ryu are just as classic and effective.

Yes people complain about the V-Ism but you have to be MVC2 good to pull that shit off. A3 A-Ism Guy and A3- A-Ism Gen are just as effective. I love Alpha 2, especially the background artwork, but the game feels incomplete to me in the way 2nd Impact does.

YAY for CvS2. I wish that game got more love.

As for Alpha 2, I thought that Alpha 2 Gold was the ā€œupdateā€ to the game in order for it to be more complete. I never bothered to play much of the Alpha series so I don’t know.

A2 Rose makes 3s Yun look like a C tier character.

3rd Strike functions very differently from 2nd Impact, strangely enough. Grab mechanics are different, supers behave differently, hit stun is WAY bigger in 2I, most normals can frame trap very easily in 2I, and half of the cast is seemingly worthless (lol Urien tier). In general, I have to agree with the argument that A3 is better than A2 and how most of the latter iterations of Capcom fighters tend to be better. The only thing I DON’T like is how the latter games tended to lose the originality that the earlier versions had. NG and 2I are amazing as far as presentation goes. A1 and A2 have awesome soundtracks and backgrounds, while A3 is just so-so. CvS1 has the best stage intros period, but CvS2 barely tried. Heck, I personally prefer Championship Edition over Hyper/ST because Guile’s voice sounded like he was going to beat the shit out of you whenever he threw out a sonic boom.

To be blunt Alpha 2 gameplaywise is shit. The artwork is great but it’s slow, turtley, and really zoney. It’s a lot like SF4 but better. All the classic characters aka Ken and Ryu, etc are just reruns of ST. But also A2 is a lot slower than ST. It was turtley because all you had to do is wait build meter and Alpha Counter to death. And since you can Alpha Counter with both punch and kick unlike in Alpha 1, there was no risk anymore to Alpha countering. The new Alpha characters aka Guy, Rolento, Gen, Sakura, etc were not fully developed and they were clunking to use. Alpha 2 Gold wasn’t much of a upgrade. It reduced the number Alpha Counters to two instead of the former 3 on a maxed out bar. You can really slow down the game and abuse Alpha Counters in both A2/Gold.

Now Alpha 3 ironed out all the problems and made it it’s own original game and set itself apart from Super Turbo. The guard meter was a great addition because it put more pressure on people to fight. If SF4 only had a guard meter. You could still zone and space, you just couldn’t abuse it. The new Alpha characters aka Sakura, Guy, Rolento, etc were more fully developed and didn’t feel like shallow prototypes. The inputs and game mechanics were more smoother and precise. If you wanted to do a level 3 super, you didn’t have to worry about not pressing all three punch buttons and missing. Simply press fierce for all 3 levels, strong for 2, and jab for 1. Remember this game came out one year before 3S and during this time as fighting game developers Capcom was at the peak of it’s powers. So in a nutshell Alpha 3 the arcade version is a well thought out masterpiece. Hence the words ā€œarcade versionā€. Tragically Capcom fucked up their home system ports by adding other crap and messing with the gameplay. So sadly the masterpiece that is A3 only exist as a arcade port.

My theory is that the problem with Capcom Vs Snk 2 is Capcom and SNK. This was kinda discussed last Friday. Capcom and SNK are two different companys with two different philosophies. Capcom fighters are complicated but not in the technical aspect but in the mind. They’re simple to play but the mind games are complicated. SNK on the otherhand, their fighters are very techincal. They’re so many moves and you have to know them all to be effective. When CVS2 combines them you alienate both sides. The Capcom characters aren’t pure Capcom and the SNK aren’t pure SNK. They play different. So it’s hard to find a middle ground. By trying to accomdate everyone, you lose everyone.

But what redeems CVS2 is the awesomeness. What I mean by that is that if you absorb it’s system and be creative with it. It’s very rewarding and you can end up doing awesome stuff. Unlike say Alpha 2 with it’s turtle mode and Mickey mouse custom combo, CVS2 rewards high level skill. The crazy stuff that CVS2 players do in that game is much appreciated. CVS 2 Pharmacy is a good game. It’s just that it’s a weird mix.
