IMO the four setups I’ll have of UMVC3, KOFXIII, and SSF4 AE are probably the best setups I have for the modern fighting games as a whole. For the modern era I think this will be the best fighting games when it comes to strategy and depth. Once next year starts and TT2 and Street Fighter X Tekken come out, IMO it will all go downhill and the newer games will be ridiculously scrubby.
So enjoy this little time period before SfxT comes out. Because once it’s out it will never be the same again.
I’m playing Skullgirls next year, son – I’m set. Though sadly, I have jumped off the Capcom train the moment I could win my fights at the very low low price of $8.95 for those fancy gem packs. No, not even a new Darkstalkers game would have me coming back if what Ono said about splitting the community was “teh future”. It really wouldn’t be the same kind of game. =(
Actually, now I’m curious: what do you think will happen with your place next year, Don? UMvC3 sort of brought some people back, but the numbers were on the low side for week 1. Do you think it’s because of this being post-Evo time, or do you think it’s because people don’t want to do locals outside of tournament events maybe?
Edit: Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ll be playing a lot of Skullgirls even if no one gets into it. My ex is voicing in it and she wants me to teach her how to play her character.
I don’t want to get into why not as many UMVC3 players show up like they use to in the packed vanilla MVC3 days at my place. As far as I know I’ve always got along with everyone and welcomed everyone. But in the past few months I’ve been hearing hear say about not so nice things about my place from some people who said someone said what. I never confronted anyone and personally I don’t care. At this point in my life I don’t want to hold any grudges. I just want to provide a place where everyone can get together and play fighting games.
I’m thankful for those who are loyal to my place and welcome anyone back who is MIA and invite anyone new to join us. Because at the heart of it, it’s trying to keep a fighting game scene and a community alive.
Whoa KOFXIII is actually really fun. I can’t believe I actually can play this game. It’s all that CVS2 experience:)

Naw Strider I didn’t finish the trials, I just battle. I think we got a good group here that will crack open KOFXIII. It’s like an old school 2D game so it plays to our likes.
If it is anything like CvS2 then I would love to give it a go…

Thanks Don, if anything I am happy with my current situation. Working hard at school, recently got hired as a tutor (started working this past Monday) and filling out the paperwork needed to get into a teaching credential program at school. Assuming everything goes well, I will be on my way with both a Bachelors degree and a teaching credential

Edit: KOF 13 is the best fighting game I’ve played in a long, long time. Techs are a little weird, but the feeling this game gives you is just…ugh, I’m having separation anxiety. DX
