Something neat i notice is when Ip Man gets serious he changes his right hand from a open palm to a fist.
Got done watching it finally…Movie was pretty disappointing…The only thing good was the table fight vs the 1st & 2nd master, Sammo one was a bit letdown…It was good but was expecting more from them…Sammo/Donnie jobbing to that evil western guy was complete joke. Has got to be the most uninteresting fight scene i’ve seen in awhile…
Ip man Prequel will be the best of the 3…Movie has the potential to come close to Prodigal Son & Warriors Two as the ultimate Wing chun films…
you know whats funny, the people on movies-lniks.tv actually rated 2 higher than 1. i wonder if these people know a good movie from a bad one. the ratings are really off on a lot of the movies.
Why is that funny? Even if you don’t like Ip Man 2 doesn’t mean others who seen it should also react the same way you did. If you don’t like it, nobody will care. Let the general public decide for themselves what to love and what not to love in a movie.

I agree with this review wholeheartedly. The film was a major let down, and to think donnie said it would be better than the prodigal son :bluu:
There seems to be a weird trend in HK action cinema nowadays (like in the 80’s) where the bad guys just so happen to be westerners. I would’ve preferred it if Donnie fought another Wing Chun/Wushu master at the end, someone with a similar skill-set to Donnie, which we didnt even get to see in Ip man1.
I also hated the over use of wires and the unnecessary undercranking during the sammo v donnie fight.
A Prodigal Son remake in a contemporary setting would awesome, just as long as it was still and HK film. I tend to think that about alot of movies. Like a new and improved 5 deadly Venoms with dudes all suped up like fucking the X-men or something.

because 1 was a better movie in pretty much every aspect that the movie could have been better in. not hard to understand.
its not like godfather 1 & 2 where some find 1 or 2 to be better based on personal preference. cause in the end both are great movies. this is like comparing friday 1 to part 2 or 3 and sayng its better. fact this is almost as bad as saying avp is a better movie than predator. even with the faults of pred1 its still leagues ahead of avp. a this is exactly the same. so when people rate a bad sequel better than the first one which actually was pretty good i find that laughable.
Tarantino was suppose to do the Venoms remake awhile back, not sure if he’s still going to do it or not…

Ever since Hero Donnie has put out some pretty good action movies. While he may speak the best English between him, Jackie and Jet I really hope he sticks with making films in HK and doesn’t try to cross over into Hollywood. For all we know Hollywood will waste his talents and just put him in a yellow man meets white man/black man buddy movie. DO NOT WANT.
While he isn’t in this movie, I recommend everyone watch True Legend. It’s directed by Yuen Woo Ping and IMO the best Martial Arts film since Iron Monkey.
I used to watch his Tv series Fist of Fury back in the early 90s…Donnie is big fan of Bruce Lee, tv show was great despite the speed ups & wires…Kinda confuse as to why he’s Kato in this? Im guessing this is the continuation of Fist of Legends?
I thought Donnie was in his prime in the 80s & 90s…Anyway, saw True Legends too. Very very similar to Jet Li’s Fearless. Movie suffer from some real bad editing…Being a two part story movie did not seem to blend well with each other. I really like the first part of the film & had one of the most memorable villains i’ve seen in awhile. Dude was creepy & love the reference to 5 Deadly Venoms. The 2nd part of the story seem way too rush but the action scene was actually quite fun to see. It was nice to see Zhao When Zhou back in action. I think the last time i saw him was Fist of Power.
