Not here to bitch, but just here to see if there are any other like-minded individuals. The load times on the Xbox 360 version of Skullgirls is honestly so effing annoying I am done. Period. Done until the patch, if it indeed does fix it.
The game itself is amazing, but the load times make it unbearable to play. It simply takes way too long to get into a match, in any mode. Training, offline arcade, online, etc. It is just way too annoying when any other FG I have I can be in a match within 60 seconds of turning on my system, and I can be back in a match within 10 seconds of a previous match I just played. In Skullgirls it’s at least 30 seconds between matches, and minutes to get into a game from start up.
I can not wait for the patch, and to continue playing. I hope it comes quick. See you all then!
am i the only person who doesnt have an issue with loading times on the 360?
its not 30 seconds between matches if you hut the rematch button on unranked matches. by comparision to say ssf4 its lightning fast not having to go back to a lobby/character select every frigging time.
True, but not everyone wants a rematch. I mainly mean start up anyway. I don’t know why, I am slightly OCD, but I just can’t take the irritation that comes with starting up Skullgirls currently.
I am on the 4 Gig slim model, purchased new about 4 months ago. However, from reading other threads, people are saying the new slims run it the fastest? Even the 4 Gig model? So… Regardless it still plays slow for me and I still will wait for the patch.
Doesn’t mean I don’t like the game. I get the feeling people reading this may think I don’t like Skullgirls which is untrue. I love SG as soon as I am in-game. There is just too much time spent out-of-game though, for me at least.
The load times in Skullgirls is laughable compared to what you endured in Street Fighter IV if you didn’t install the game on your harddrive. We’re talking damn near a full minute of staring at two shotos posing behind a wall of fire…
Yeah, that’s the problem. It loads best off of a hard drive, 4gig models are flash storage… So, that’s probably why you’re seeing a huge slowdown. I’d recommend buying an Elite HDD and putting it in there; it’s really easy to do (imo, your mileage may vary) and it’s worth it in the long run. And you can get them cheap from anyone with a RROD Xbox! Just have to buy the tools to open it up and your golden
umm, its still gonna be overall bad, like, the load times will be better, but the limitation of the hardware remains, you are still trying to load alot of data on a slow reading drive. Don’t expect this revolution in load times, skullgirls is the most memory hungry game I’ve seen for 360.
Yeah, but you’re going to want some sort of HDD in the long run anyway. I thought I could live with just 4GB internal and a 16GB stick, but I ended up using a lot more space than I thought. Plus all games just run quicker off of the HDD, so I use the 4GB for save data/DLC and the HDD for installs/XBLA games.
Just don’t forget you’re going to need the proper tools to open it up and get the actual hard drive out. It fits into the Slim just fine (really easily actually). So the tools may cost you a little more on top of it.
I know it sucks to spend money to fix something that shouldn’t have been wrong with the game, but realistically it’s going to come in a lot more handy than for just Skullgirls. From one 4GB owner to another.
i actually did the whole hard drive taking apart thing recently, and if you really want to skimp and save money, you can use a screwdriver set from a dollar store and still get inside. just some of the really small hand ones, and then i gripped the shaft using a pair of pliers and got in pretty easy.
I stopped playing because the lack of online competition. Nobody plays online, and those who are online are the pickiest little shits ever. GGPO setting not recommending 1-2? GO FUCK YOURSELF. Is pretty much the attitude I get online.
My internet is awesome so lag and ping are usually the least of my worries. I know what you mean though, but some people take it very serious and just want an authentic experience and you don’t get that with 3+ GGPO. I would still accept a match at 3-4 though, but even myself, I usually say no at 5 (this is on Skullgirls).
