Anyone got anything good? I like Gambit lately, but hes not gettin much love. Post up your best Gambit stuff.
Off the Wall Mobility
He’s got funky mobility with his charge down, up P or K off the wall moves. Gambit can just move in ways other characters can’t-- to me, thats what makes him such an interesting low tier option. You can go nuts with this move if you have a projectile assist to create horizontal lockdown-- in other words, dash in, blocked string plus assist, Off The Wall move to x-up, assist hits/is blocked depending on their reflexes, then you’re free to mixup.
Gambit/Spiral (Proj.) is nuts and has some of the best low tier trapping options I’ve stumbled across. Basic formula is blocked string plus Spiral xx Off the Wall x-up, repeat. Spiral causes plenty of block-stun, so you have time to do another mixup/block string rep. The Off the Wall move is versatile bc you can charge it from any down position and finish the motion at either up-away or up-toward – so you get to pick whether to cross up or stay same side. You can also go from wall to wall to fake cross-up, then hit back on the original side. I usually use the Kick version of the move, but with the punch version you get a slower, arching attack where you control the timing of the hit. Toss in the QCB/QCF+KK super and you’ve got some decent safe chip too.
Obviously not as safe as top tier lockdown, but if you make them guess wrong once, Gambit/Spiral can cross up in a hurry.
seems real interesting. i’ll be sure to test this out and see how well of a mind game / mixup / crossup / lockdown game it is. by the way, if you can… a video would be nice! :smokin:
Gambit and Iron Man is a pretty good combo. you can call iron man on assist while you perform gambit’s off-the-wall charge move and do some crazy cross ups. Also try this combo: Call iron man on assist, dash in, lp, lk, lp, lk, then the
lp cajun slash. Iron man’s repulser blast has some delay to it, so you should be able to input gambit’s combo before the first repulser blast hits. when it does, the opponent will literally bounce right back to you for either a follow-up combo, or for one of his supers.
