I never really saw anyone mention it before, but I never noticed it until now. I was playing around with Alex, and I was doing the exact same combo to brush up on execution.
I noticed that as my opponent’s health got lower, the overall damage of the combo started to decrease.
so I’m gonna go ahead and test anyway, but I was wondering if anyone knew if TvC has a Guts system (I do not know the formal name, so I’m gonna go GG here) and how much scaling it does?
EDIT:okay, yeah, it kicks in around 50% health.
Double edit: Okay, this was a useless thread. At 30% health, your combos do 80% damage, and at 15% health, you dish out 60%
Yeah there’s definitely a guts system. I’m pretty sure that’s in either the basics thread, video primer, or something, but if not, yeah it’s worth noting for anyone who doesn’t know.
Just off of play alone I think the guts system is more involved than just you taking less damage. Is it not set up like, you give more damage and take less? Also, is there not a whole different guts system setup for when it is just one player left on a team. I know Alex, Tekkaman and Batsu all show this when I play with/against them.
I’ll take a look at it later on if no one else has, sounds like it could be worthwhile to know
In both instances, the combo in Question was Ryu’s A B C. Also, the damage is implied billions
Ryu Giving Damage
Ryu over 30%(with Partner): 4.40
Base Damage
Ryu under 30%(With partner): 4.9
11% Increase
Ryu Over 30% (No partner): 4.45
.01% increase
Ryu under 30% (No partner) : 5.01
13% increase
Ryu over 30%(both players lost Partner): 4.45
.01%
Ryu under 30%(both players lost Partner): 3.35
24% decrease
Ryu Taking Damage from Ryu
Ryu over 30%(with Partner): 4.40
Base
Ryu Under (Partner): 3.5
21% decrease
Ryu Over (No Partner): 4.4
0% increase
Ryu Under (No Partner): 3.5
21% Decrease
I might look at giants later on, but basically, Damage taken remains the same regardless of partner, but Damage given increases when you lose a partner.
For those who don’t know, below 70% health, you get a 5% boost to defense and attack. Below 80% health (I think, maybe it’s 85 or 90%) you get a 10% boost to defense and attack. That’s why you see some hypers doing less damage than normal on a person who’s about dead, and some doing more than normal from a character who’s about dead…
Hmm I knew there was a guts system, but I wasnt aware that it was on based on HP marks. I always thought it was to scale, instead of being only different at certain percentages.
