if the answer is yes, i’m guessing this means if you are crouching against a grab ultra that is 1 frame startup like ibuki is the same as a 0 frame ultra.
also dunno if the standing is taken into account if you stand in a combo then.
Nope. Crouching and standing are, for all intents and purposes, instant. If I remember correctly, even though the framedata says otherwise, Ibuki’s and Guy’s grab ultras grab anything that is -1 or greater. Whatever the reason is, it’s not because there is a transitional frame between crouching and standing, since they’ll grab you regardless. You can test this out yourself by recording the training dummy to do Ibuki’s ultra while you are crouching, then just hold up during the ultra freeze.
Crouch guarding and stand guarding are instant. But your hitbox can momentarily be frozen in a standing or crouching state, independent of your guard direction. When you block a move, your hitbox will be frozen in whatever state it was in when you blocked the move, intill the blockstun wears off or new blockstun is applied. Which is how characters with mixups involving a jump-in then re-jumping with a move that normally whiffs on crouchers work. (fuzzy guard mixups) And when waking up, there is one frame of forced standing hitbox, which is how Cammy’s meaty Hooligan’s and other meaty jumping attacks work.
