I mean more so than the 360 version? And if I got it on PS3 would I have a hard time finding people to play? I got SSF 2 Turbo HD and literally nobody plays the game online.
Personally, I feel its pretty laggy on ps3. You probably won’t have a hard time finding other players though.
Damn…guess I should buy a used 360 then. I just hate having to buy one with next gen consoles right around the corner. Cause I highly doubt they will port any last gen fighting games to next gen…right?
Is this a rhetorical question?
Online lag in 3SOE is all dependent on your opponents connection.
As for PS3 vs 360 itself, it’s been long proven by actual testing that there is no difference in terms of lag/delay between both consoles.
Ah thank you this is the answer I was looking for. I’ve searched all over google and there’s no clear cut answer anywhere. I dont know if you know this guy on youtube under the name Miles923 or Maximilliandood when playing online…but he had a crapload of youtube videos and plays this game alot. It is inspiring to watch him play and I noticed that he used to play alot of games of PS3 but completely switched over to playing everything on 360. That is partly why I was concerned.
Can’t remember where I read this and can’t be fucked source checking, but I thought PS3 in general has one more frame of lag than the 360? A while back pretty much everyone was convinced that this effected MVC3 and SF4. Has that been proven bullshit or something?
I believe 360 vs PS3 innate (offline) input delay is the same between them.
in my experience online connections were a bit worse on PS3 than 360
we ran some rudimentary tests a few weeks back comparing OE 360 to CPS3 and we’re leaning towards OE having +1 frame of input lag but the equipment setup was not good enough to be sure, so you should take with a lot of grains of salt until we get a legitimate high speed camera. I’m sure it won’t matter to new players even if it is true so it shouldn’t factor into anyone’s decision-making.
online 3s is not really the same game as offline 3s but I think it can still be fun on it’s own merits.
I’m glad that those videos you mentioned inspired you to try out 3s. It’s a fun game and definitely worth playing. hope you keep playing and stick around for a while.
Nice. I’ll get it on PS3 then :). Yea you should check out his channel on youtube. He does commentary with all his videos…funny as hell too. His channel is Miles923. And I was reading that these older fighting games perform better on the old chunky regular tv’s correct?
Yep. One of the guys at Tech Talk tested this with a high speed camera and no noticeable difference was found between either. Both had around 4 frames of delay on both console from when you press the button and the animation starts.
Just play GGPO. That’s where the best 3s players in the world were born and is also where the future champs of the future games play and practice to this day.
Honestly I’d rather not play against the best people in the world who have played this game for 10 years while I have only played the demo a couple of times. Wouldn’t be too fair on my end.
To be fair, the playstyle on GGPO has been broke down to be the most optimal, yet simplistic, course of action. I would duly recommend you reconsider ggpo.
The true technical thing I heard about PS3 that made sense and wasn’t conjecture was that using the XMB to message, and add friends to a lobby has been known to use up RAM that can’t be used on the game. Maybe if you have a ton of things to sift through if could bog it down.
However that affects the game, SF3 OE emulated on the system, who knows. PS3 was made in 2006 and even the ones they make every year after that keep the same specs, pretty much including the small amount of RAM like 512 MB half of 1 GB?
So stop with the rage messages PS3 community!
SF2HDRemix needed 1 more patch that XBOX360 got and they never did, if you want to lookup all of that, or learn that the SF2 scene has stuck with Super Turbo, Arcade version emulated, which is on the GGPO service and don’t play HDRemix anymore.
