^^;; yeah actually i think I was using a 3-button controller. I just didnt like the game. It felt like someone poured syrup on the buttons, like with MK. They both had a stiff and not so responsive feel to them, in my opinion.
Well, keep in mind that if you were playing EC on only a 3d button pad, then your statements are primitive (no pun intended). Unless you played the game on a 6button pad, then it’s not legit to state that the in-game controls were bad. For EC, you literally had to press the start button to switch inbetween the punch & kick attacks on the 3button pad.
Some special attacks even required both the punch + kick commands inputs at the same time in order to work (imagine playing UMK3 on a 3button pad, oh wait, that’s the Gen version I’m thinking of) making it virtually impossible to play correctly. You simply cannot play EC on a 3button pad and expect to progress far. It’s like complaining that the controls in 3S are unresponsive (not saying that they are) when you’re playing on a standard controller aside from an arcade stick.
I ultimately preferred the SNES version of MK over the Gen version (despite the absence of blood & gore in return with “grey sweat”). The SNES version overall had better graphics, slicker controls, greater audio, faster gameplay, and (of course) supported the 6button pad off the spot. Then again, if all you had/played was the Gen version, you really wouldn’t have noticed the difference.
who wants a money match in double dragon NES 2player vs battle? abobo that ass.
I’m pretty sure you’re either talking about Time Killers ( RANCID FTW ) or Blood Storm, its insanely difficult spiritual sequel. Blood Storm, if you actually check out fightingfanatic.com, Nether has a perfect run on it over there.
To the guy who asked on the first page about Astra Superstars: yeah, I have it, actually. The game is very fun but unfortunately kind of shallow. There is a cool ricochet effect that some attacks give that allow for high-damage combos and different characters have different chains, enough to make each one feel entirely unique. The dashing above and below your enemy is not only cool, but also necessary for some characters’ supers to hit (such as Fooly the vampire guy). It’s very fast paced and the graphics are incredible for the Saturn, but be warned that should you want a copy of the game, it’s going to be expensive. I paid $120 for mine.
Is it worth getting? I need to bulk up my saturn collection. Anyone know where I can get some match videos of this shit?
I’m up for some One Must Fall net games if you guys can handles this
FYI: The game is free. Now.
what the heck was so good about Weaponlord? slow, broken juggles… not sure what i’m missing here.
As CigarBob once revealed, Weaponlord was the first game with a parry system.
I still play Eternal Champions on my SEGA CD from time to time, repeat HP and HK infinites.
Also, I still think Xavier Pendragon is one of the coolest fighting game characters ever created.
Hmm. I actually have played 3s on both an arcad stick as well as a pad, and so can my boyfriend as well and he does quite well with a pad, even though he hates them with a passion. The same goes for Tekken (playable on a pad as well as an arcade stick and comfortable with both)
As for MK and EC, yes they were played on the Genesis. But what I said about them is extremely opinionated. EC still had ‘sticky’ controls to me, as well as did MK. I’m sure in MK’s case, that went for any system that it was on until the ps system and up.
Funny thing is, I can’t play Tekken on an arcade stick if my life depended on it, yet my sister murders them (speaking of Tekkens 4&5) with ease. I personally have a thing with being terrible at playing 3d fighters on arcade sticks (whereas it doesn’t seem to affect others as drastically). Next time I play Tekken 5.1 at the arcade, I’m bringing a ps2 controller with me.
do you use dosbox with OMF??
without DB my sound is messed up,
with DB sound is fine but speed is very slow.
how do you have your OMF setup??
^^ That’d be a great sight to see. Will you take any pictures? Bringing a pad is a bold thing to do in a room full of arcade sticks >_<
Well actually, people bring their controllers to the arcade quite often (or at least at the one I visit). That’s how I was getting destroyed so badly (having an advantage over someone who isn’t that good with the arcade stick). You’d think that bringing your controller to the arcade would be a joke, but when you’re bluntly getting owned & pumping out tokens for rematches against people you clearly know you’re better than, there’s aboslutely no shame in referring to a controller. We should get some type of arcade tournament going soon.
how?
Hmm I wonder where at tho. But at the moment I’m very tired so, I’ll continue this message possibly tomorrow or at a later date ^^
I havent played in arecades in a W-H-I-L-E. They ate too many of my quater and dollar chruned-tokens for me to go back. lol There was a time I actually got free tokens but I’m away from my hometown at the moment so sighs alas, no free tokens for me–for now at least. ^^ But I’m cheering you on.
OMF net games? I’m down. (Ask around at the omf2097.com forums - I bet Raptor will be up too, and we can get something going…)
And yes, I use DOSBox, and I turn the sound off to get speed back up to reasonable levels.
HUUUUHH??? Net games??
