Does anyone still play (or care) about those old fighters?

Yes there was. I think maybe 2 or more. ^^;; I actually have a copy one of my best friends gave to me since she already had the game. It was Jurrassic Park Rampage. Good game. Even had some Primal Rage features like the dinos could eat the innocent bystanders to gain health and whatnot. lol

Shoot, don’t even get me started on Toshinden
MAJOR TOSHINDEN FANATIC HERE. I dont care if the games werent all that great and were slow. It was mainly played for the characters and the music!!! sob
Ellis was the truth! ANd Eiji too–yeah—
Tell me, how many characters do you know of in a 3-d game that has the ability to dash under the opponents legs?? Sure it takes her a while to realize she’s got her back to the oponent and turn around, but it COULD start the beginning of some interesting cross ups!!

And with Thrill Kill, I actually wanted to play that game. I think Voldo from SC kind of takes on one of the images of one of the characters. I know one was Violet who broke her back and another was either Belldona or Belladona who was dressed as a French maid and killed herself from electricuting herself in her bathtub or something.

Tuff Enuff sounds familiar, but unfortunetely, I’ma Sega/Sony grrl ~_~ Grew up with Sega, I can’t shove them to the side.

Hmm Rival Schools anyone??

SImple statement. If the fighter wasnt made by capcom and isnt rival shools or 3s or a3. that while ago??? then it was trash no questions asked. 3s and rival schools are great and a3 is just the shit in gen. Anything else was trash. oh and marvels good too. thats it however

I personally think Toshinden has the potential for a comeback. A couple times I spent some time in the shower thinking about it.

Psychic Force is definitely slept on.

RoboPit was also fun, not sure what this game qualifies as.

and not exactly a fighter but also ridiculous was CYBER SLED

Man, my friends and I used to battle each other in that game like crazy all the time.

Othe than those games…

Wu-Tang was pretty cool!!!

Oh really? Those are mostly all anime-based games with the character styles and all that. And that means—Evil Zone and Toshinden are a part of that anime base too! But Rival Schools did have more of it ~_~ Heeheehee

Are you serious?!! That’s intersting if that’s true and even if it’s just a friendly joke, you get props for that. But you know, I’ve thought about it too, but since Toshinden Subaru, the 4th installment never came over to the states, that doesnt really give much hope for the old thing. I guess the ‘slow roll out the way’ couldn’t compare with other games that had it. I wouldnt be surprised if the SF francise or Marvel vs series clashed with its success. Yes that’s right, Im giving props to Marvel and SF over Toshinden.
Takara, what happened to you guys, man?!! You guys used to be so great and hyped over back in the day!!
Oh well, gotta run to class!

See ya’ll

evil zone is hands down the greatest game ever, though i would always play kakurine if i needed the win

im not seein much love for cardinal syn

Uh lets see. Street fighter was a game b4 it became an anime. Last I checked. I dont care what those games are based off of. the fact remains that those games are the best games period. i used to like that game but for some reason when i heard the horrible voice acting and glitchy ass gameplay. I just said no(to drugs). Evil zone was FUN (NOT GOOD) and now i cant even enjoy the game for its piss poor gameplay. rival schools(not project justice) was a great game on the other hand. :karate:

Man, one of the most terrible feelings of my life was playing Primal Rage last year for the first time in ages and finding out that it did, in fact, suck.

Fighters Megamix is one that I pop in from time to time for kicks. Holds up better than a lot of other games from that era.

Anyone remember Battle Monsters for the Saturn? Anyone?

I didnt mean based off an anime meaning the anime came before the game. I meant it was done in an anime style. My bad for the easy mix up.

Psychic Force sounds very familiar. Who was it made and published by?

Battle Monsters, no ~_~ unfortunately. the name sounds slightly familiar, then again a lot of titles were made with battle in it some kind of way. How long did the saturn live? i dont even remember . shame on me. How was Battle Monsters??
And Primal Rage did get old fast. But it was at the top of its game when it first came out. The graphics were hot and the sound was great. I loved hearing the dinos, and the ape when they jumped around and landed. That sound was awesome to me. ^^;;; ANd the hypo-dino was cool too. The main thing that sold that game was the gore and the gameplay. Dang that was so long ago— But MK never had an animation of a heart exploding on-screen like Primal Rage did. Or the characters gasping and holding their chests right before they toppled over in the dirt. Didnt some of the bystanding humans run up and bow even after the fight was over?

ANd what’s in Fighter’s Megamix. That sounds familiar too but I forgot what was in it ^^;;;

whats the name of the fighter that came out as egm dubbed it “the answer to mortal kombat” and had pics of the actor that played johnny cage playing the game and giving it thumbs up.

i remember watching pics of that game on that particular issue, and being amazed by all the secret stuffs, the gore, how even if u had all ure body parts cutt off u could still fight. U could get ure limbs cut very soon in the match much like another game I completely forgot the title of.

Im thinking it actually sucked big times, but I still want to reminisce

anybody knows what game im talking about?

ew. (having the limbs cut off and still being able to fight. what a thought.)
err nope no idea. How many maximum players did it have? 2 or 4?

Don’t remember who published it, but ultimately, it’s a Taito game.

Mmm Taito. I remember the cute voice for the intro of one of its games. It may have been a puzzle one tho but ahhh well hey, since we know who made the game, maybe it can be looked up and found a lot easier?? Thanx EX-Sucker Punch ^^

EC played nothing like MK. The only similarities the two games share are in the violence/gore factor, but gameplaywise, incomparable (it was more SF if anything). EC2 (SCD) was twenty times better than the original. It practically corrected all of the flaws of the original & more. Of course if you tried playing EC on a standard 3button pad, it was virtually impossible. So if you’re basing your views on the first EC (and never played the sequel), it’s an understatement (but the EC series wasn’t for everyone). Besides, I think we can all agree that MK pretty much ripped off of SF (which is believed to have ripped off Karate Champ). But when it boils down to it all, all fighting games end up borrowing elements from each other to some extent (the major titles, at least).

The worst fighting game I’ve ever played (oldschool) would have to be “Rise of the robots.” I remember playing this game with the cpu opponents pulling off all types of bizarre maneuvers (projectiles/blocking & such) wondering how my character could pull them off, only to later discover that he didn’t have any special attacks & couldn’t block. To top it off, the sequel was twice as bad as the original.

Evil Zone was pretty good, you could break guard at any time to counterattack but the problem was knowing what attack would be fast enough to get between their attacks. It had a good 3d movement setup. Simple controls, nothing crazy to learn but I wonder if someone could break the game.

But yeah the only thing I reckon kept it from being tourney worthy was Kakurine, the early ps1 graphics and the sameyness of the characters movements.
