Does anyone out there play Soul Calibur

OK, after checking, you’re talking about 33_99A. 33A is decent, but neither are all that great.

It’s the one where he spins around and hits you with the broad side of his sword, right?

That one, 3A, and 3B are the only moves I see people use all the time.

But again, I’m probably getting SC1 and SC2 mixed up.

I need to lay off the crack.

You mix up SC1 and SC2 and you’re trying to tell Zig how to play the game?

My Ivy, Good or Bad??? And be honest

Will someone please rate my Ivy so I can try to work on my mistakes. There are alot of experienced players on this thread such as XCTU and Zig. I would really appreciate it if you guys could rate the quote you see about my Ivy shit.BTW for the record Randumb aint better than me!I got his ass into the game and he totally copied my Ivy.

Re: My Ivy, Good or Bad??? And be honest

2A+K isn’t that good of a move. It’s a slow TC that knocks down. Use it sparingly.

8A+B is pretty good for mixups, but don’t rely on it like some people do.

22** sucks if you’re using it do enter her stance.

6**2_8 is a move you need to use more often since I didn’t see you saying anything about it. Just use it for spacing…

Well, I don’t see how we can “rate” your Ivy without playing you. But, eh, I’ll try.

Basic Ivy is pretty much 2A, K2, 4A+B:B, 9A+B,A, plus post-step stuff. She’s got a lot of good tools, though. As for the moves you mentioned…

I don’t see that much in 2A+K. It can go under a lot of stuff, even mids, but it’s kinda slow and not all that safe.

FC 3B isn’t bad, really, but using it like you do would get pretty predictable. It’s best used as a poke and for annoynace factor. Get in the habit of using it on its own.

WS A+B is meh. The whole string can be easily punished if you follow it up with the A, and it’s way too telegraphed to be a good SS/CS setup. If they fall for it, though, by all means use it. 9A+B mixups get kinda old too. If they actually duck long enough to get by 1B, I say own 'em.

22B into anything other than air throw isn’t worth it. Neither of the overhead just frames combo reliably, and 22**,A into SE is soooo easy to deal with.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with Yoshi using X? It’s a pretty tough match for me since I never really learned how to play against Yoshi… :bluu:

Randumb2oh9 stop taking credit for shit you got off me

Randumb, you got your whole arsenal of moves from your matches with me.You even admited my Ivy was better than yours, so dont’ try to give me advice on Ivy. The only character you win with is X and you know it!!!

Haha, that’s an easy matchup for X, at least in the short run. Yoshi has to work to get in, and she’s such a bitch to hit, even for him. This means he has to be in 1A range usually to keep X locked down.

Also, the fact that her A is 1 frame faster makes a big difference. It’s hard for Yoshi to threaten big damage after ducking against X, 'cause WS K will get hit by AA unless it’s delayed. And if it’s delayed, that gives X a chance to NOT commit to AA and instead backdash, go mid, what have you. Thus, Yoshi’s ability to anticipate and punish AA while staying safe is kinda limited.

Once the Yoshi players learns your patterns, though, then he’s in better shape. Still, I think it’s 50/50 at best, maybe a little bit in X’s favor.

So what would X’s toughest match actually be? I also have trouble against some Kiliks since they out range me and kill my step.

Kilik is definitely strong against X, but he’s the only character I’d say is the “anti-X”. In general, characters who do well against her are able to match her speed and/or safety, but that just kinda makes your life easier. Nightmare, Taki, Talim, and I’d say Raph can be pretty safe (Raph vs X is kinda funky though). Ivy can space her, but as I mentioned earlier, she has other big problems in that matchup, especially her inability to punish 3A on block. Mitsu can handle her well too, but has to be pretty conservative.

Zig, do you have trouble against X since you use Astaroth? Or…is she a pretty simple match-up?

It’s a simple matchup, but it’s stupid, lol. Pretty boring.

Cass vs X = peace out X

Shit, how could I forget about the sisters?

I’m not trying to tell him how to play.

I posted what I thought was right, and Zig corrected me.

What’s confusing about that?

Forgive XCTU, he was blinded by his own sexy looks.

well, i would have to have read what you guys posted first…

whatever i was wrong, lol.

My main Characters are Ivy, Taki, and Voldo. What characters are they each good against.BTW I always joke around with my friends about how much Yun Sung and Raphael suck, but they must have some potential right? Randumb seems to think so too, but is it true?

Yunsung did defeat an entire French team before, I believe. I don’t know what Raphael has done though…ever…
