Does anyone know anything about Dreamweaver

Because I swear, I am seconds from destroying my computer, not really but I’m a bit annoyed.

I sliced some images in Photoshop for web use, imported them to Dreamweaver…once I set up links to images it literally divided the overall image. I tried setting different options with tables and well that did nothing because clearly Dreamweaver isn’t intuitive at all–none of that shit is intuitive. So if anyone can help me with putting this image together, I’d appreciate it.

Have you tried creating a table in Dreamweaver first, formatting the individual cells to the size of your slices, and then inserting your images?

I would check and make sure the image sources are straight before formatting the links.

I haven’t I’m really new to Dreamweaver and creating the images in Photoshop was alot easier than trying to work in Dreamweaver. I only used Dreamweaver to finalize and publish the site–everything works except that the images are all broken up from the slice lines. Is there just some way to make those lines not visible and move things around?

I use Dreamweaver on a daily basis but I dont understand what you are saying, are you saying that when you put the images in they are spaces between them that you cant seem to get rid of??? If you could upload the page that would be really helpful.

If you created a table make sure the cell padding and cell spacing are set to 0, you have to put in a figure otherwise it will leave 1px gap by default. Make sure that the vertical and horizontal spacing for the images are also set to zero aswell.

I’m saying that when I take my slices images for the web from Photoshop to Dreamweaver and make links to the root folder all of these lines start to show up and then when I preview it in my browser it looks exactly the same with these white lines fucking up my images. I don’t really know much about Dreamweaver–its just what I know to use to draw get my site up.

I guess I can upload the site–I just didn’t want anyone to see it all fucked up–I’ll put up some screencaps or something.

I didn’t use a table I just made an html file via Photoshop and thats what I’ve been working on in Dreamweaver. All that table, column bullshit is annoying and not intuitive to me so I tried to cut out the middle and just design all my shit on Photoshop. I’m sorry I’m just annoyed with Dreamweaver because I don’t get it.

Also, how do you get the image as a whole to auto-stretch without it being a table or better yet how to turn my images into tables so that I can? I know, I know–I suck at Dreamweaver.

How can something as simple as evening up an image which SHOULDN’T even have to be tampered with in the first place be so fucking goddamn hard to fix?

Edit: I just realized you’re F-1!

I still use Dreamweaver MX, CS3 looks very different. I would of suggested you go to layout and choose layout view, then you will be able to see how the site is split, see example, then you can see the dimension for each table in the properties section at the bottom, then you just got to make sure that they are all the correct size.

If you zip the pge and PM me it I could edit it for you.

Yes I’m F-1 lol why did that surprise you?

Just wasn’t thinking about it really. If you can PM me you’re info we’ll figure something out.

Hey man got the files, the problem is really straight forward I’ve attached some instructions below.

Basically Dreamweaver by default inserts a blue border around images that are links, like it would underline text that was a hyperlink. You just need to tell dreamweaver not to do this by changing the border value to 0 (zero).

Some of the images arent sliced correctly about me and original art are one image.

The only issue I’m having is that in some areas its still not coming together, and when I preview it in firewfox its still seperated after I save the changes.

What would cause that?

Edit: it works fine in IE, but not Firefox. I still want to fix that. Any thoughts? And also how do I get my pages to auto-stretch since I didn’t originally make my pages in Dreamweaver?

Make sure you set every image to border value 0. Its working fine for me in firefox and IE.

What about the screen ratio? Does the site actually fit to your screen also? All my borders are set to zero and everything looks fine in Dreamweaver and IE but Firefox is really acting strange…for ONE image.

If you miss one image it will mess everything up, I’ve gone through all the files and emailed you the fixed html files, they all work fine on my machine.

You were definitely right. Thank you so much for you help! I really need to repay for your efforts. Now I’m just wondering about auto-stretch to get that to work…other than that I’m on my way to getting this thing up finally!

Glad I could help. If you use percentages instead of pixels for the height and width then it will autostretch.

For some reason, when I did that–it messed up my image I’m not really sure if its someting I’m not understanding (more likely) it is but I’m still trying to get it to fit correctly.

Anyway here is a link to confirm that its not fitting correctly.

It wont work for you because your images need to stay together. Set your background to black, and centre the main table your site will look pretty good that way.

Dumb question, but how do I center it if everything has been sliced up individually? I can’t move anything really without something breaking. If you can show me a path of what I need to do I’ll get it. Whenever you can.

If you click outside the image area in white space and drag inward into your images it should highlight the table that everything is enclosed within. Then you can select the alignment to centre.

When I click “Align Center”, nothing happens. Everything looks the same in preview.
