Does anybody remember Street Fighter II: Rainbow Edition?

Rainbow Edition to Evo2k8 bitches!

I also heard of Street Fighter II: Red Wave Edition or smoething like that. How is the gameplay on that game?

I fucking loved this game, we used to play this all night when I lived on Ocean Prkway. Fuck all the haters!

now we play Marvel =/

Is this where MvC originated?

No, but it actually inspired the creation of HF, believe it or not. :looney:

I don’t know what’s stranger. This thread and it’s title, or DG posting in a Capcom related thread. These are dark days…

thanks to no charge times and fireballs coming out of his dash punches, wasn’t Boxer pretty much the dominant character on this? Infinite rush down.

I think guile is the best because he can keep the entire screen full of tracking sonic booms

Depends on the version. Bison air psycho crusher is too fast for them to track.

I remember a while back when I was a random DQ, I saw a Street Fighter machine, only to see the game play strange as fuck.

Didn’t realize to years later it was the “Rainbow Edition”.

Kind of random how the idea of the game came to be ;o

Rainbow edition:

::Bison steps out of the shadows, throws off his cape and in a menacing voice growls, “No Homo.” Guile challenges him, “This is Rainbow Edition! Are you gay-man enough to fight with me?”::

And that was Rainbow edition kids!

^ You suck at the funnies!

So this game actually saw arcades? what made them think this was a good idea?

Ya rainbow ed is a joke, just like a Jabberwocky

The game is the most infamous of many hacks to CE. Capcom’s programmers would have to have had their brains fried after a week-long crystal meth binge to think that these were good ideas.

Wow. That’s some crazy ass shit right there.

thank you this made my night:looney:

I’d like to know more about how these hacks were made, and by whom. They were from Taiwan, right? How come there were SHIT LOADS of SF2CE hacks EVERYWHERE but not for other games or versions? How difficult would it be to make a hack of SF2CE now?

I don’t know why World Warrior wasn’t modded instead of Champion Edition, but I assume that the modders didn’t crack the CPS1 until after Champion Edition was released. Part of the reason SF2T wasn’t modded after CE, was due to unreliability of the hardware as well as lack of demand on part of the consumer.

Apparently the changes to the engine were achieved by manipulating the hardware as opposed to hacking the rom. As a result, if an operator received a poorly modded cabinet, it could crash at any point and then they’d be out of a decent sum of money.

I’ve heard that the CE mods were directly responsible for the CPS2 and Capcom’s suicide battery fetish, but I haven’t found any reliable sources to confirm that.

I’ve actually seen this at an ARCADE in Chicago back when Virtua Fighter 2 was new :looney:
