Quick question, can somebody tell me what situations each of strange’s assists would be used for? I am finding his assists somewhat strange and I am trying to assemble a team with doctor strange in it, and I am looking to someone to summerize which assists are most useful, and for what situations. thank you.
Eye of agamotto helps a zoning team (Morrigan, Joe, Mags, Dorm, Hsien-ko, Arthur, etc), extends corner combos and allows midscreen relaunchs for certain characters (Dormammu with flame carpet + EOA for example). Allow some corner pressure on incoming characters.
Bolts of Balthakk help both zoning and mixups characters. Is very good for ground control, but extremely weak when facing heavy rushdown characters at close range (Wolvie, Wesker, etc). It’s a double beam kind of assist so it wont be a 100% blockstring, this means you can grab the blocking character before the second beam hits. A lot of characters can crouch and duck the beams, so thats the chance to land an overhead.
Daggers M: Help in close range situational mixups. The worst of the three assists imo, but it’s still decent if you know what you are doing.
i suggest bolts of balsak it got me 2nd place at a tournament with doom on point. send out a projectile then call strange rush in. Wesker confirm with gunshot also.
Keep in mind, if you use EoA to extend corner combos, it scales hard and significantly affects the hit stun deterioration. It can be difficult to incorporate. It’s a decent pseudo-Modok shield if you use it with zoning characters though. Bolts is funny but a pretty good beam assist minus the fact it can be ducked and is a little more open to punishment than other horizontal assists. If you have a good rush down or teleport character I suppose you could use Daggers for cross ups but it’s definitely not as versatile as the other two.
