Do You Think Skullgirls Online Community Will Die Off Quickly?

I’ll definitely be getting Skullgirls the day it’s released (tomorrow, I believe), however I’m worried the community will die off quickly. Games like KOF XIII and 3rd strike online were incredibly fun to play, but after a month or so I either come across the same 5-8 people every match or it takes me forever to find a match. Is it something to do with games that aren’t too popular amongst the already relatively small FGC?

What do you guys think? It’s obviously an opinion, as no one can know for sure.

Edit: Changed title of thread to ONLINE community, as DevilJin01 pointed out.

The FGC will take this game to the top

No way Poochy, with your endorsement all the cool kids will play.

There will be a hardcore community for sure, but I really do expect most of the masses to pass this game over pretty quickly.

Good. That’s exactly the message I was trying to get across

but seriously, I hope not either. The game looks so fun!!!

By the end of the weekend there will only be about 4 lobbies up on average once people find out there is no moves list and boycott the game.

Welp shitty threads mean game is coming soon. Could have at least titled the thread online community even though that probably won’t happen either.

Skullgirls…
is already dead to you.

Think about that for a second.

No, the reason you won’t find people in KoFXIII lobbies is that the online fucking sucks.

Also, the community is not just online; if it was, Blazblue would still be an EVO game and King of Fighters XIII wouldn’t be in the current lineup.

3SOE’s online matchmaking was terrible and gave GGPO a bad repuation. KOF XIII’s netcode was bad as usual. Games with good online multiplayer are still being played even now and Skullgirls will get tons of play if the online is up to the challenge. This should be especially true if people from melty blood, Arcana, BlazBlue and the Capcom games give SG a try. The anime folks are notorious for their online gaming habits. :stuck_out_tongue:

GGPO

think about it for a second

If all goes well, there shouldn’t be a problem.

I think if GGPO follows through with a great online experience and matchmaking the online community will be more than fine. Me and friends honestly don’t play certain games as much anymore simply based off of the fact that the netcode is jut so bad. Yes building the offline community should and always will be the focal point imo, but as long as the game performs well online the community in that respect will stay very strong. Also the patch for bigger lobbies when released is going to be great, sorry for whoever above thought this game has lobbies on release and I’m bursting bubbles…but yeah no lobbies on release. It’ll be ranked matches, player matches and offline sessions for a while unfortunately, which doesn’t bother me much at all.

use the various Skullgirls repping sites/forums for matchmaking

This is Anti-hype if I’ve ever seen it.

I hope not. I think it’ll all be tied to how the online plays.

Nigga, game isn’t even out yet. Just wait, dude.

How many characters are in this?

Eight. There will be more from dlc after a few months, assuming the game sells decent.

8

it has good netcode, how can you even compare it to kof13

Given the already huge fanbase the game have for not even being published yet.

Now add the highly likely PC release.

We should expect a wealthy living fighting game if I ever saw one
