Or do you start out playing your main?
Sometimes I feel I do better when I start ken first, then move on to chun.

I normally like to start out using Hugo for some reason, then move on to Dudley. I feel like he plays a little slower so its sort of a good way for me to get moving before going into playing a character that is a little more aggressive or fast paced.
Note: This is my opinion.
Yun is one of my main characters and doubles as a “warm up” character for me. Then I go over towards Elena, Urien, Ibuki, Akuma, and then Remy for continuity.
Fuck yes I do. I lure my opponent to a false sense of security before coming out with the big guns and destroying him.
When I play on GGPO I start with Yang, Yun, then Ken. Those are my 3 favorites to play - Ken being the one I feel most comfortable on. Eventually I want Yun or Yang to be my main though both are super fun.
on the flip side of this , I can start out playing Chun and then go on to whoever usually. However, if I start the day playing like Mak, Yun, or Gouki I’m screwed and stuck playing them all day.
I warm up with Hugo…
I usually warm up with Ryu and Urien before I move on to Yun, Ken, and Alex, although, I rotate these characters when I play frequently. I feel like Urien and Ryu make me slow down and think about how my pressure game’s working that day, and as well, I see how my hands are working with confirms and how clean my execution is (particularly with Urien).
Denjin, Yang or Remy.
I like to warm up with Makoto. Her combos and execution are good for warming up loose hands and her spacing options tells me a lot about how my opponent reacts to pressure.
I’d say like 9/10ths of the time I warm up with Ken. He’s been kind of a secondary since I use him so much for warming up. The remaining tenth I go Chun or Makoto.
Urien is usually my warmup. Then I’ll eventually play Q, and then other characters. Lately I’ve been trying to improve my Chun game. I know how to fight against her pretty decent, but playing as her is kinda tough.
just out of curiosity, what are you finding tough?
all of a sudden my friends ken just level’d up like crazy, he busted out so many kara shoryus today too…so now I’m having trouble lol
It’s not so much “I don’t know how to play as Chun” as it is “Ryan knows how to fight Chun well so he kills me”. It just boils down to matchup experience in my part, especially against aggressive characters like Yang and Makoto.
How different does your friend play Ken in contrast to before, besides kara-SRKs?
See if you can get a match or five recorded and pay attention to the way he sets things up. Notice things like distance, how he reacts to your pokes, etc. In terms of what you actually spoke about, see how he sets up that first uppercut.
well he is a yun main (he likes the air), so some matches he spends alot of time in the air trying to get me with that fucking mk crossup.
its like his whole footsie game got so much better too, I feel like I’m getting boxed in and smothered the last few times I’ve played.
he never misses hit confirms with him anymore, that fucking jumping mk is ambigous as fuck sometimes and I get tired eventually of crossblocking it and letting him get a free mixup on land. sometimes I can dash or walk under it and keep him in check with a low forward super, but not always. I just need to know more about my options in that situation. mixing up my AAs too, if I feel hes gonna go for the parry then I just hakkei>hyakuretsu.
I really to need to up my spacing and footsies
ah, we play on a cab.
in terms of the shoryu shoryu, its usually just buffered in a low forward.
I use Alex and Elena to warm down, after I’ve had my fill with Chun-Li.
To the guy above, if Ken is jumping on you fishing for cross ups, meet him in the air with throw, target combo or vert rising roundhouse. Dash under is legit, but save that shit for when you can tag on a super. You can always pick super 1 or 3 and blast him out of the sky
You can still set a camera up to record play.
And I was speaking in terms of if your buddy is getting free punishes on you, or if he’s baiting you into a situation, etc.
Lucky bastard --…
I usually warm up with Sean. I’ve no idea why. I just really like Sean. For some reason, to me at least, he’s like Makoto (-- work with me) in that he’s fast, has a dangerous, yet punishable, “command throw,” has shitty anti-air options and has to play his opponent more than playing offensively. No idea why I like warming up with Sean but it allows me to work out all the silly shit I would never do in a real match.
I still need to work on punishing whiffs with Hayate. Hitting on reaction things like shoto c.mk is just clearly too Japanese for me so I’m thinking of playing Ken more to catch whiffs with his c.mk. I swear to God Ken is so gay -__-…
