Always go for a front choke. I think people think wrist locks look cool so try ir out. You work to the double wrist lock. The guillotine and double wristlock are my defensive positions for a single.
Good god i find it funny one time a guy tried to swing at me, and i got him
With double over hooks. And just gave him a long hug against the wall until security came
Took my first martial arts class at the muay thai place yesterday.
First time doing this in 8 years when I took Krav Maga for a month.
My arms, hands, and fingers are sore. I donât know how I did this so easily as a kid or in my twenties. 32 here and damn, I feel old but it was a good session, way better than going to the gym.
I love doing muay thai and boxing, i have switched to muay thai and boxing during the week because they pushed back the time for bjj. So i do grappling on fridays and thursdays. While i do striking mon-wed
The hardest thing to learn is footwork, defense, keeping your wind, and when to explode.
Grappling, muay thai, and boxing all have way different kinds of footwork
the muay thai place i went to did that. but i was always ok because i was conditioned for karate tournaments/sport karate stuff. but i always loved watching everyone else die.
When i lead the warmup for nogi? My god the look of sheer terror when i see guys go through the fifth lap of bear crawls, only to end with 100 hindu squats.
That is the best
Especially seeing bros break during the drills
The best drill to kill people is the standing guard passes and especially love making people do back takes after about 3 minutes of pummelling
We started working on sword kata in kenjutsu tonight, which is great because thatâs the part of it Iâm most interested in. Gotta get myself a decent bokken though so I donât keep having to borrow the instructorâs extra like a scrubâŚ
Donât worry, the Bokuto arenât too expensive. You should be able to find one from local shop for like 25 bucks. My advice is to get one thats a light colour since dark ones are usually painted and then look crappy after, youâve started using them since the paint chips off/stains your partnerâs bokuto.
I would recommend something really cheap and something that shares this design. Itâs simple, itâs cheap and does the same job as the $200 ones.
Granted I have spent a lot of time shin conditioning already; but itâs good that have shin guards when sparring or drilling. I often forget my shin guards and end up wearing whatever piece of crap they have at the gym. The crap-tacular dinged up ones at the gym do an equally good job as the fancy pants one I have at home
O and if you go to Thailand, you can buy shin guards that are paper thin. You can wear those during smokers and kick the shit out of the other guy. During sparring and drilling, of course, where appropriate shin guards.
The overwhelming majority of jiu jitsu practitioners couldnât win a state wrestling title. Itâs filled with so many geeks itâs really hard to believe sometimes.
