Do YOU do any Martial Arts?

I’m not surprised by your situation DJ. School systems can be just as corrupt as the local government they’re under. I know the first thing about the politics that goes on in school districts. Just do what you need to do and everything else will fall into place.

Since I’m a white belt, I can’t really say to give a very good review . My instructor taught me everything I need to know for white belts and explain self-defense situations. Only con I can think of is having a Karate on the dojo title next to Taekwondo because everything I focused on was Taekwondo.

Update for me:

I’m having a yellow belt coming up next month and my first tournament coming up in March. My instructor just add a MMA program. It doesn’t look too intense though but I will check it out today. So far I haven’t seen new adults yet just more kids/teens coming in.

Lol tkd school with mma man lol

My tkd was very old school we focused on tkd applied to fighting so our demo team was three black dudes

We also did grappling and full contact sparring

Now the gym i train at is legit

Taking a body shot from larenz larkin is just never going to be good

So here are two videos:
Some demonstration of basic Escrima techniques with a sword and dagger (espada y daggar (sp?))

(edit: If you want to know what something means, e.g. de fondo, just ask me)

As you can see, they focus on the defense first and then the kill second.

And then some basic at home exercises for core strength, which I thought were well explained:

SMH for this 16 year old kid in grappling. Mad salty that all i did was smash him in side control

Even complained that all i did was squash him to the instructor

I never do subs on kids. They don’t know when to tap

hes 16…what do you expect?

Nothing really. It was just hilarious. Crying to the guy leading the class. All the dudes just laughing me just laughing my ass off in my head

Next time i am just going to Keep him
In a front head lock the whole time

Kids need to learn. Subbing them does nothing. Wrestling and control making them know it’s not just a flashy sub.

Grappling

it’s mad funny seeing a kid getting double armbarred.

Rings of saturn ftw

So I have been going through a lot with this whole coaching gig. I was actually ready to quit. But those effin kids made me want to stay.

So this past weekend was supposed to be the kids’ forst meet/tourney. I even scheduled for a joint practice at another school (where only one kid showed up). So these kids are all ready to compete, but only two of them are able to make it. They can’t compete because they never got their effin physicals. Needless to say, that shit was annoying and made me look like a jackass. But I took the two kids to the tourney anyway to watch. The boxer kid ad the 70lb kid. I basically wanted them to see what determination, drive and hunger look like. These kids were serious and I wanted my kids to see that the way they are in practice is not gonna cut it if they wanna win. Either way, I linked up with another coach near our school and he has a super small team as well. We are gonna start doing some joint practices and maybe host our own tourney soon.

Oh I had one kid quit on me and now he wants back in. The way I see it, if I decide to let him in i am gonna work him hard.

But honestly the boxer kid is easily going to go somewhere with this. he is really good and picks up on this quickly. There is one other kid that is greta as well. Now if I can just get these kids to actually want to to show up, then i am good.

I mean I don’t even have an assistant coach. I wish my brother could come out (he trains at an mma gym) but he tore his Achilles tendon not too long ago, so he is all messed up.

Didn’t these guys not want to pay you and feed you a bunch of BS to cover thier own asses? I respect that you’re still determined to do this for the kids.

Basically. I had a sit down with the AD an let them know all that I needed. If they couldn’t provide me with even the basics, then I would have left on the spot. So they started working and things are running a bit smoother. Now it is on the kids. Since we have everything on our end, these kids need to have their shit together as well.

Wing Chun here

I thought this was great.

Guro Inosanto at the Smithsonian; he’s 74 fyi, but he sure doesn’t look old:

That’s actually really cool it looks practical too. People be sleeping on these Filipino martial arts.

What I was saying is that they don’t get as much exposure like karate, bjj ect because they don’t. You don’t gotta be a dick about it.

I can’t see Walker replacing Cyril Raffaelli, a dude that went toe to toe against fucking Jet Li.

That white boy hard as fuck.

Yeah that’s the wrong thread for that info anyway, bring that shit up in my thread son.

uhhh did they do a shot for shot remake wtf?
