I’m just liking this for one reason, because in an entire thread about martial arts I think this is the first one to deal with fitness? Lots of people get obsessed with their dragon arts this and that, but they’re out of shape fucks. Having the stamina and physical endurance to fight, and having the dedication to train that body is the first, most obvious, and most important step you could probably take. Props, because that 'aint for me. I just don’t eat like a jerkwad and I walk around an awful lot. That’s all the training I can handle.
I’m thinking about taking up that fighting style mentioned earlier in the thread. Whipping off my trousers and lubing up will cover just about every situation I can think of that I’m likely to get an ass beating in.
Are you talking to me? If you’re on for this olive oil and hotbods thing it’s go time. I didn’t select an avatar for a reason. A grey Man symbol suits me just fine.
Err strikers can neutralize a good grappler there are lots of options, even more if your a striker whos is a decent grappler its all spacing and timing.
They can, but that comes from good grappling defense. Defending the takedown, working the clinch, and getting the match back on feet if they do get taken down. The point I was getting to is that grappling can neutralize striking, but striking cannot neutralize grappling. All the most successful strikers in MMA possess strong grappling defense.
I DO practice Krav and carry a gun, but am I really that brash about it? No. But come on, we’ve got people in here joking about Fist of the North Star. I have to up the ante and pretend like I’m Pre-Donut Steven Segal or I won’t fit iiiiiiiin.
If it’s the norm to “play to win” and use every tactic in the book, including keepaway and zoning in video games, what more in war where everything is a life and death situation.
Hung Gar Kung Fu doesn’t give a shit about that at 3:32

What alot of people don’t understand about martial arts is that the katas/practice movements are just that, they’re practice. You aren’t actually expected to do things in a specific order. You apply the moves as necessary. At 10:18 the narrator says, “Be adaptable, combat has no rules.”
There is a move specifically in one of those four videos where you actually punch the assailant directly in the face and dick at the same time.
I think all aspects are important. You need to know what to do and you have to be in shape to be able to execute. From there it’s just practice through repetition so you can execute based on instinct because against an unexpected attack you don’t have time to think.
For me eating is a problem. I know some people have this whole schedule with special shakes and stuff but my schedule doesn’t allow me to properly spread out my meals and exercises.
Winter is also problematic. I didn’t lose shape this winter though because I was playing one wall handball with a helium red ace outdoors in my shirt while people walked around in a coat when I had time off on weekends. By the way, for anyone who prefers striking with hands, I highly recommend one wall handball with a helium red ace as a hobby. Not the soft light balls used for paddle ball. Get an official USHA red ace and find someone in your area to pump it up (get a few because they pop often).
edit:
I’m still feeling a little sick from putting in too much during my previous session but heading back out to train. I’m scared of getting out of shape lol.
