P.N.03 is a shump? …Wait…
:lame:
they’re just trying to make things easier for the scrubs. Fucking scrubs
I had nes and snes turbopads but i never used them for fighters.
but macros is what I hate the most, that shit is broken
lol at ehonda doing 50% in a3 with simple jump in, c.short, fierce hh with rapid fire on.
Nice Metal Gear Reference!!!
turbo buttons r for cheaters enough said. on anythign i fucking hate those type of cheaters. kelvnbo or some shit uses it with chunli in a2. i hate em so i much i took out the turbo crap on my stick
Playing with my buddies stick last night, and the placement of the switches for turbo were really annoying. Every 5th match Id find I accidentally turned one on and it made things weird. Worse they had auto setting and usually thats what i wound up with.
I’ve used them in fighters to dick around casually, but not in years. Really pointless and clear cheating. 3P and 3K I am fine with on Pads though. But I don’t bitch if I play somewhere that bans it.
I love on GGPO when it is obvious someone has turbo (always outthrows you and never misses a reversal plus other signs) and denies it.
In fighting games?
Yes.
I voted yes, but it depends on who’s using them. A noob or scrub? Meh. Not really. A player with skill? Yes, because they’re going to know how to get the most out of it. It’s still cheating, but it only matters if they’re winning unfairly.
I’ve run into obvious turbo users, and they’re seldom very skilled. It sucks when they just spam lightning kick or get off a free and unearned throw, but you can usually just adjust your playing style to compensate. The idiots start to rely on their little controllers, and seldom have any good idea of how to maximize the advantage it gives them. Spamming specials and fierces is a good way to lose without a turbo controller, and from my experience, using turbo functions just makes their problem worse.
If some of the serious players were using them, it’s a different story entirely. I’m sure there are uses for turbo functions that scrubs on XBL have never thought of… Though why would a good player bother? They’re already way above most people who play the game.
I admit that I haven’t spent a lot of time in GGPO, so my experience with turbos and macros is limited to SamSho II, HD Remix, and Soul Calibur IV on consoles. It hasn’t really been a problem for me there.
I used a PSX pad, never needed 3K and I play Blanka… C.mk xx hop was no problem for me hitting X, O, and R2 at the same time…
I DID, however, put my L2 and L1 as lp and lk - can’t do a TKD without it, and yes, I could TKD on pad…
I voted NO because I don’t see why games need commands that demand you mash the fuck out of a button in the first place.
Mmmh, this is a good explanation. I could never really argue why I believe they should be disallowed any better than “Well I just don’t like them!”
I might be ignorant on the exact definition of the genre, but just to be sure, mind explaining why it isn’t or shouldn’t be classified as a SHMUP?
Regardless, whether it was a SHMUP or not, I can see why people would justify using a turbo controller with it, but it still doesn’t make it any more legitimate.
I voted no. Any game that can be broken by pushing one button really fast is just asking for it.
I use turbo function vs DS on STHD just to troll him in game
not really. true rapid fire controls input 1/30th of a second 30 times a second. fighters typically play on 60fps. So you run the risk of pressing the turbo on the frame before and you miss the link by 1 frame, same with reversals. rapid fire makes it braindead easy to get at least a 50% chance of 1 frame links (100% for 2 frame links and more), and 50% reversals (assuming the rest of the input was done correctly).
For p3 and k3, I’m a ps2 ds pad player so hitting those p3 or k3 without messing up holding the controller/motion is much less awkward. Though I tend to avoid p3/k3 moves and perform p2 and k2 moves regularly without p3 or k3.
