Do PS3 Mad Catz SE sticks work on SFV?

I have a friend that wants to learn SFV on PS4 and I have an extra Mad Catz SE PS3 fight stick. Does he need to buy a new stick? (hopefully not, that’ll probably be a nail in the coffin)

I found this.

On PS4, I believe you can.
On PC, you have to use crap like Joy2Key at the moment…

Not entirely true. I finally managed to get my PS3 Madcatz TE1 to work on my Windows 10 PC. Updating the mobo driver to Windows 10 and updating a UHCI packet did the trick for me. Now I don’t have to use any third-party utility for my stick…just plug it into a my VIA chipset USB 2.0 card and it’s all good.

I don’t remember if there was some hoops to jump through to get the TE sticks to work on PS4 or not. I think there are simply because SFV does not currently support DirectInput, only Xinput (or something like that). But if there IS a workaround required for the PS4, I know it exists because folks are using legacy sticks on the PS4.

That was what I meant, I was exclusively referring to SFV on PC. Not PC in general.

I have the SFIV TE “S” and on the PS4, it randomly deactivates and I have to go back to the main menu to re-activate it or unplug it, plug it back in, and then re-activate it. Kinda lame, the option should be under controller settings not at the main menu. It happened during a match and it was annoying as hell.

This happened to me as well. It would just randomly disconnect from my PS4 and I would have to go back into the option menus to get it working again. I tried plugging in the PS4 controller directly into the system, turning off the auto turn off function, nothing seems to work. IS there any fix to this? Has anyone else experienced this?

I own 2 TE S editions and I am also experiencing this issue.

Make sure that the system isn’t set to deactivate the DS4 that the sticks are paired with.

My DS4 is definitely on and it happens to both of my TE S’s, regardless of port used. I’ve had both plugged in for local vs and had one working while the other failed mid-fight.

Did anyone ever find a solution? I have the same stick and same problem.

I have the same disconnectiong issue on my ps3 madcatz ssf4 te-s. I bought a new ps4 when sfv came out. My stick works for a couple minutes then disconnects. Then I have to unplug, replug, and reauthenticate legacy controller.

The weird thing is that my stick works fine on a friend’s ps4(he has an older ps4). It doesn’t disconnect at all on my friend’s ps4. Has anyone found a solution to this issue yet? It seems like the only thing ps3 stick users can do is to get a converter or the brooks universal fighting board. I don’t really wanna spend $90 on the brooks, but it seems like that’s the only fix right now.

It turns out that you need a Brooks Adapter.

If you don’t there are serious consequences and therefore they are usually banned at tournament. The sticks tend to give out after 30 seconds or so.

Any idea if that adapter will make an old non-working PS3 SE stick work on a Windows 10/xHCI machine?

Or has anyone had any luck getting an old PS3 SE working on a Windows 10 machine with an xHCI (USB 3) controller?

Edit: Or has anyone tried a CronusMax converter?
