i remember back in 96/97 when ff7 came out and all them magics looked damn good, till we realized using a magic took a minute or so, for just 1 move. now that ridiculous shit is making its way to fighters, fuck no. ultras should be fast, powerful and look hurtfull and good from a choreographic sense. something none of the ultras in ssf4 provie. some of the older ones did so in sf4, but nothing new worth mentioning (cept for bruce lee 1 inch punch, balrogs second ultra is really cvool though, fuck the rest).

Bullshit. Not only will you pre-order the game and play it on the first day, but you’ll even be entering tournaments for SSFIV within no time. Half of your YouTube subscriptions for FGs are probably SFIV related. Everyone said the same thing about SFIV when it came out. “It’s awful, it’s cartoonish, it’s infantile, it’s the wrong direction for SF,” but then everyone played it. If it sucks so much then why does everyone play it? If SFIV is such puerile garbage then how did it amass over 1,000 players for EVO2009?
You think people are playing it because it’s new? No. Because it’s Street Fighter? All other SF games are dead in America (like they should be). They are playing it because it’s a the best FG to come out in years.
No matter how much SSFIV (allegedly) sucks…it will be the most popular FG for the next ten years internationally. Expect a massive turnout for SSFIV at EVO2010. Fact is that SSFIV is the best fighting game, at least this year, and maybe of all time. Fuck all of you haters.

IMO the problem with the Ultra system is that each character’s most powerful and visually elaborate move is used with such frequence (whereas Super Combos are rarely seen, since the Super meter is also used for EX moves and FADC). I view the SFEX series’ Meteor Combo feature as a shining example of Level 3 Supers done right - damaging, impressive and employed in moderation (the alternative uses of meter being Surprise Blow/Hard Attack, cancellable Level 1 Super Combos and Excel/Critical Parade).

Street fighter fans had great new character designs at one point in time in some stupid ass games called SF3 and SF EX, but the fans shitted on those games. Capcom rightfully assumed that nobody gives a fuck about good character designs and they gave up and stuck with the sf2 cast . They discarded King Cobra and the other black characters , because of the fans love for familiarity .King Cobra would easily have gained just as many fans as Dudley and Elena if done right. Why did they do this ? They did this because the fighting game community is afraid of change .
