This. This the most realistic possibility to happen without breaking the limit too much (though 40 is pretty big). 1 new character, 2 Alpha, and 2 3S characters would seal the deal.
Now, only if Capcom really wants to be lenient and end SFIV with a bang, then the roster will be 45 characters. 2 new characters, 4 Alpha (Charlie, Karin, Rolento, and R.Mika would end certain SFIV characters stories.) and 4 3S characters (Alex, Oro, Elena, and either Necro or Yun/Yang so there story can lead into SFIII:NG).

Uhm… wouldn’t the original group be the most unique? Seeing as 3S was just taking small elements of each existing character and tweaking them slightly. I mean, I get what you’re trying to say, and I love Ibuki and them a good amount, but credit goes to the II cast for you know… setting up the pins in shit.
Dhalsim setting the bar, while Necro and Elena take small, tweaked aspects of his game and run with them.
Who we honestly should have gotten, is Yun and Elena (+ the three that we’ve got) to get another girl in the game, and not give us exactly what it is that we already have. Those two have a style that is at least unique enough to not be a complete copy of the II cast, which are the backbone of IV anyways.
I love 3S, but I would have liked to have seen a new charge character in the mix, one that isn’t a cheap knockoff like Remy. Hakan and Juri are cool and all, and I’d stomach Rolento (R. Mika and Hugo are unnecessary. ) But someone new and interesting with complex charges would have been more fun then another character I already played with.
I’m thrilled as shit that they added Deej and Mak, but honestly my favorite aspect of IV was that they put in Viper and Abel, not the old cast.
