no thanks, i’ve read some giant bomb reviews and they are not exceptional. in fact, they say some pretty fucking stupid shit that i cant stand. then again, i think i’ve only read reviews from jeff gerstman. i’d rather just watch lots of footage or rent the game or look up actual facts or ask friends than read half-assed reviews.
Ugh well I don’t like that GB made an article on the whole TF2 F2P auto-kick thing. That already rings sensationalism to me because it was never a big fucking deal. Even in the article, they say that 17 servers have the plugin. Wow, big fucking deal. Maybe Kotaku is again partly to blame though. For whatever reason, their way of reporting news is popular and influences other gaming sites.

This can’t be stated enough. It still annoys me that kotaku frogging said in '09 that a new Guilty Gear fighting game was coming out and used a story from some no name site as a souce that didn’t even say anything like that and thought that was just fine and dandy.
Screw that site. There are far too many good places for gaming news to deal with such sensationalist shit.
Seconded on what I left in. I don’t know about the rest of site, but I’d fight to protect the site’s honor just for Zero punctuation and Extra credits. Seriously, watch some Extra credits NOW! With Giantbomb I only listen to the podcast which I find interesting enough to listen to regularly and an occasional quicklook. They ain’t competitive or anything like that, but they get the job done on the cast.The E3 cast series they did a bit before was gold. For general quick-processing gaming news I go to Joystiq myself.
Finally, I’ve been listening to Weekend confirmed as well. It’s not 1up yours, but it’s good discussions.
As is often the case, Wikipedia is wrong. Sport = competition. Yes we may use the catch all term “sports” differently, but it doesn’t change what sport inherently is.
Evo is as much a sporting event as soccer. WWE is as much a sporting event as high school social ladder scaling.
I read joystiq. Usually I don’t see anything there that immediately pisses me off like at Kotaku or destructoid. When I say “read” it usually means I just scan the article headlines anyway. But it says a lot about the latter two sites that doing even that pisses me off.
Damn you’d think that people would apply this logic to smas… never mind. Shitstorms will ensue.
