Disney buys Lucasfilms for 4.05 billion

Is that a actual fact or another spin by Lucas?

I’m just thinking about Disney can do Theme Park wise…

This sets up every Disney Store to soon all become pedophile heavens.

Umm that happened in the 60’s even when any gift shop opened.

Bieber will obviously play the turbo Jedi son of Leia and Han, and maybe Miley will come back to Disney now, and bring Jabba’s giant bong back into play?

Stop it, just stop it.

He wants to lull us into a false sense of security, so he can be the first on the escape spacecraft

This is a pretty genius on Disney’s part.

I’m actually amazed to realize that the Star Wars license only cost them $4 billion.

Think of the amount of video game licenses, toys, television series, Republic/Empire brand toilet covers, what have you. I have no idea how much money that type of shit generates, but it doesn’t even matter.

Phantom Menace (along with it’s 3D re-release, LOLZ) had a worldwide gross of over a billion dollars. Pumping out ONE MOVIE would already return a quarter of their investment alone. And then think of the DVD sales, the Blu-ray sales, the 3D Blu-ray sales, the remastered 3D Blu-ray sales, the remastered anniversary edition 3D Blu-ray sales, all that shit.

And then multiply it out by however many movies they want to release in the future, WHICH IS INFINITY FUCKING MOVIES.

This is THE MOST bankable property in the fucking world. If the prequels have taught us anything, it is how fucking bulletproof the Star Wars brand is - people will come and watch this shit regardless of the actual quality of the movies. And Hollywood is all about that now - nothing but sequels and remakes or book/comic/video game adaptations. They want bankable big budget low risk movies based on existing properties that have huge established fan bases already. There is no preexisting established fan base in movies bigger in number or lower risk than Star Wars fans.

There is no way the franchise is only worth $4 billion measly bucks.

Which means that George Lucas is indeed just selling off whatever he can as fast as he can so that he can be the first on the escape spacecraft when the world ends later this year.

Not to mention I assume they’re gonna go ahead and continue the 3D rereleases which means Disney’s making HUGE bank while barely having to do anything until they start developing Episode VII.

Needs more Starkiller. Never liked Star Wars (especially the old ones, but that’s probably because I didn’t grow up on them), but I found The Apprentice’s relationship to Darth Vader to be fairly interesting. Could, at the very least, be a good supporting character.

Can’t do that until the eventual TFU3 comes out. Last we need is extra characters in that game that can’t die.

Wow…good shit there, Mr. Lucas.

Yeah, he’s always been at the forefront of educational philanthropy. He’s even pledged that when he dies, at least half of his wealth will go to educational foundations and charities.
This world needs more people like George Lucas fighting for education.

Still waiting for Disney to pull that “Disney vault” garage with the theatrical releases of the original trilogy.

Star Wars pre rendered JRPG make it happen!

Who cares, Star Wars always sucked and the original trilogy was the least terrible.

**♪ **They’ll never get a Blu-Ray of the Star Wars that you used to know!

Well, yeah. They have to see it so they know what they’re bitching about. Even if it means paying megabucks for the first screenings and a half dozen screenings after that.

LESS terrible. Comparative, not superlative. You blithering moron.

No, least terrible, as in, least terrible of all the Star Wars media.
