The good parts of LucasArts already left ages ago to form DoubleFine and Totally Games. However I fear for the non-Starwars IPs that Disney is now sitting its ass on locking them in the vault.
RIP and good luck to the 150+ in the Los Angeles game industry workforce that were laid off today.
Lucasarts did last a long time.
But since the old staff left I stopped caring.
They were the soul of the company and the current one only had the name in common.
I remember when Sierra met the same fate some years ago, I felt a little sad. But even they werent the same when compared to the 80s and mid-90s.
John Carter’s failure was mainly in the piss-poor marketing. Upon release of the film, was there anybody on the planet who knew who this character was or what his story was about who didn’t already know from the Edgar Rice Burroughs books?
me…i took a chance from what everyone said on here and a lil research. i miss save the princess type movies like that. it was a throwback to my childhood movies.
Either way, I am very wary of Disney’s live action works these days. In these past couple of years, their live actions have ranged from either average to poor. Pirates 4 is perhaps the weakest entry in the franchise.
If they can do good with these Star Wars movies, then I will be okay with it. I haven’t really seen a movie from J.J Abrams that I haven’t liked.
