Wow very insightful! no homo I’d pay to hear you talk about Star Wars
It’s probably the Ford devotee in me talking, but I think I’d be open to a Han Solo that’s turned into a curmudgeon. I could definitely see some anxiety and restlessness building up in him ditching the pirate life to raise a family, but it would only work if he eventually channels the ol swashbuckling smuggler we all love.
ehhh… but that’s exactly how I’d expect old Solo to be. Dude wouldn’t even have to act. The only problem is that from what I’ve read Harrison ford fucking hates the role/character for whatever reason.
I honestly feel the best path forward for new star wars media is something that isn’t focused entirely on the ‘main’ storyline. It creates too much pressure to try and pull off something grand and epic, and use the old cast members in a meaningful way, which has many pitfalls
A story like Rogue Squadron, a short series to ‘test the waters’ if you will with some new characters, occasional appearances by the old, and a new story that is more contained and focused, with more emphasis on character development, etc. See the pilots, how they’re selected, training, rivalries, loves, betrayals, missions, etc, whatever, make it epic but in a grounded way.
i heard he wants his character to die…soooo im believing he hates han solo. i also dont understand…for me id think he’d be more associated with indy than han solo.
I can see Han as bitter about the days gone by, but nowhere near the level of bitterness that Ford exudes from every fiber of his being. I just can’t see him being in these movies without sucking the joy out of every frame that he’s in.
One of these things just doesn’t belong here
Come on, can you tell which one?
Can you tell which thing just doesn’t belong here?
Guess before my song is done
Dah dah dah!
And now my song is done!
We need to change the name of the thread, now that actual movie news is starting to come in:
Spielberg said hell no, Tarantino said hell no (thank God), Zach Snyder said hell no. They won’t be touching this movie.
Only 3 directors were shown the actual script so far: Spielberg, JJ Abrams, and Brad Bird. I wouldn’t mind seeing Abrams take on it.
also, Michael Arndt (the guy who wrote Toy Story III) will be writing the Star Wars VII screenplay. And it sounds like Luke and Leia will be in it, using Mark and Carrie. No word on other, previous actors. But they stated they want them to show up (and they’ll quite likely have Yoda, Qui Gon, Obi Wan, etc as force ghosts)
its kinda clear han does become a bit more grumpy in the books…even the book series about his kids i used to read a kid you could tell this. but im curious if the new movies are gonna be a straight fu to the book stuff or if it will try to play in that world.
i think this number 7 is gonnabe a hit. but i think the editors of the 1st trilogy need to be its editors for it to be all it can be coz the editing of the original trilogy is what mainly makes them so good. the direction, casting, acting, and screenplay script writing was all top notch too. but i think what really made the origanal trilogy a work of genius was the editing.
regardless i’m psyched for 7. unlike how i felt about 1-3 coz i knew those were gonna be stinkers long before the were released in theatres.
