Disappointed with strider

I felt like he naked teleported way too much personally. The vajra c is not safe on block. And strider can get thrown out of his teleport if you are not careful. I felt he should had used the beam assist alot more with teleport, did a few more double jump overheads. and NYCfab is not on clocks level by any means. i was shock he was hanging with him. I know the game is still new but I’m still disappointed with strider. I’m getting better with him all the time. But compared with other small characters like zero or the dog. I don’t agree with his health or the way the OTG bomb works. I’m trying to figure out why does he have two level 3, and his level 1 dhc is hot garbage. Why can you be touch when oroborus is activated that doesn’t make sense to me.

this is my biggest complaint with ouroboros this far. this just don’t make any fucking sense.

i agree, it’d make sense if it was a lvl 1 in this game… but a lvl 3 without that defensive aspect kinda sucks

vajra C is pretty safe on block but it wiffs sometimes and then it becomes punishable, it mentions it in the book. You can’t throw anyone in this game during recovery states anymore. Strider can teleport randomly and if you throw him, its a guaranteed tech. However, they’re still risky because while you can’t throw characters out of teleports, you can certainly hit them out of it easily which is actually worse because every character can do that as opposed to throwing then combo-ing which is limited amongst the cast.

yea you right you can tech throws no matter what, i forget that good point. But i remember being punish plenty of times if Vajra C is block on the ground. Not in the air though.

if you block vajra C in the air and say you nj-ed blocked, that vajra C is now punishable iirc. vajra C when blocked versus a standing opponent is quite safe from what I remember about the block. If you’re hitting people after a ground block vajra C, they were probably trying to mash something afterwards and that move has some recovery once he hits the ground. Its not a +frame attack by any means.

the book specifically says vajra C is very hard to punish once ground blocked iirc

I have to say, this is it, lol. You seriously have to have legit finger dexterity to play this dude. My god.

Strider’s Ragnorok should be mashable for more damage, hell even his legion should be mashable

Is there enough time to reset someone in a game like this? Clockw0rk strider is pretty good example of what you can do at least in a tournament setting. He uses strider the least on his team. He might do that wall bounce combo one time in an entire set.

Strider is definitely a glass cannon, I feel it’s safest to use him for TACs, use the best wall cling combo available, and/or save him as Anchor with x-factor. It’s sad, but unfortunately, that’s the current state he’s in at least for me. Until I see more people come out with something unbelievable (like how ppl found bold cancels for Dante), I don’t think he’ll be that good in tiers, let alone good on point. He’s just too high risk, and honestly he would be fine if his Lv3 was untouchable, unthrowable, and if his bomb was a simple Attack+S to activate, again to release. Doing the motions twice is just horrible especially since if you miss, you’re left open with that damn S waiting for a punish…Strider can’t afford any punishes lol

So because Strider is a high risk(always has been), and takes execution, you don’t think he’ll end up that good? Strider’s not good on point? This has definitely been proven to be false, courtesy of players like Clock who don’t just use him for x-factor + orbs. Having Strider as an anchor fucks up your team chemistry if your second character can’t capitalize off of his assist and they die for free.

Also, people have already found tech with Strider, such as H Gram into hard tag combos. Strider on point with 2 good assists give him a pressure game matched only by characters such as Zero or Dante. Don’t just wait for people to come out with stuff for Strider, go find out things for yourself.

after about a month or so of playing Strange/Doom/Strider and not knowing how to do literally ANYTHING with Strider beyond Ouroboros -> XF -> teleport -> mash, repeat: Strider is definitely not disappointing cuz I still win with him from time to time. well not just XF3 derpy shit, I mean Vajra is an amazing assist and I guess I’m lucky that Doom’s my favorite character in second so if Vajra knocks someone out of the sky I can basically dash up and get a free combo afterwards. Vajra can also be used to extend my Strange and Doom combos and since they already do a crapton of damage, build good meter and have great DHC synergy, any combo of mine with Strider assist extensions will more likely than not kill the below 1m health crew off one mixup.

I honestly can just do a Viscant and learn my two main characters while leaving the assist character pretty much untouched and still get those W’s. that’s how good that damn assist is.

I’ve kinda regained my hope in Strider. I thought he was a low damage awful character, but he can consistently do ~400k no bar, and end it in a 6 way mixup that leads back into the same combo. Solo. Yeah, he’s not the best character in the game but he can definitely do the anchor job just fine. I have Wesker on point, Dante rollin’ with the batteried meter and then Strider cleaning up, and it’s really cheap. resets, TODs, and unblockables.

Oh and the assists are pretty close to Optimal for point Strider if they snap him in, which totally works just fine. They snap him in and expect him to be free, and you get to do mixups with Weasel Shot and combos/unblockables with Wesker Samurai Edge.

I love Strider instant overheads and great mixups! I kill characters with no meter. I run him second to take advantage of assists.

  1. Strider is so safe
  2. Strider is so safe.
  3. Yea hes ultra safe and if your smart you’ll have success. If not play wolverine. You’ll be much happier.
  4. You can break 700k for a meter but who cares. Just get a hard kd at the end of every combo and do a 100% safe 50/50 mixup.
  5. Strider can utilize fuzzy guard. Not many characters even w a double jump can utilize this. I think captn can fuzzy guard too.
  6. Lastly - bird bombs are godlike for high dmg no effort unprorated resets.

Just do some thinking

This character comes with the other durpiest assist in the game (hard knockdown seismos yum) and you get Dark/Durp Strider. A lot of Cali is running Dark Strider now and he’s practically the new Dark Wesker now except you get an assist that actually does something other than shoot at the ground.

That’s before you apply his point game.

Why is this thread still open?

This is my same team. M Teleport plus Weasel shot is amazing…people are pretty bad at blocking that. And yeah, Wesker’s OTG gives Strider an easy way to extend combos without doing Formation B. I’ve been playing him on point with my team a bit lately, just to get better at actually playing as Strider, but I really should probably not be using the assists because it makes things too easy and with my real team order, Strider’s going to be on his own most of the time anyway at anchor.

I dont ever want to hear that formation projectile is bad again. S formation straight trades with bionic arrrrrrrrm. Its good. Stop bein a scrub and play safe.

The new tech vid Flying Ve showed out proves all the formations have formidable strength.

Bionic Arm is only one hit, so yes Formation B can trade with it (Hulk’s s.H can beat it), but only after its startup invincibility has ended.
