dilemma

So my current question is this…

Back when i discovered MvC2, I had no ideas of the differences between PS2 and Dreamcast versions. I, of course, like a tard bought it for PS2. I also went ahead and made an arcade controls box out of an old gutted PS1 controller (works great btw).

After I went through all that trouble, I learned that the Dreamcast version is considered vastly superior to the PS2 version. So I was wondering if its worth it after doing all that to get a Dreamcast (and make another arcade controls box) just so I can practice MvC2 for tourney level competition.

If the answer is yes and anyone is from the DC area, could they recommend a place to get a Dreamcast? I’ve driven all over and used game stores that aren’t Gamestop seem to be rare.

Buy a DC off ebay and personally i dunno the differences between the ps2 version and dc version (since i NEVER touched the ps2 version) but i know the dc version is the arcade perfect port and also search around the threads because i know it talks about the differences between both versions.

dreamcast plus game = 55+25 on ebay. and then just buy a ps2 to DC converter.

but practiciing is a must for this game, once u get good u can just stay in the arcade and play but u need to practice at home first. there is no training mode for arcade so it would be very troublesome to try and use the computer to test shit out on

Basically what the others said…get a DC plus the converter and a copy ov the game and practice your ass off…

As far as the changes between the 2 versions this is what I’ve seen:

-Slowdown is often in the PS2 version…plus the matches themselves are slower than the arcade port (DC)…you’ll notice this when you try to play Magnus on the PS2 version…it feels like you’re playing the DC version on a laggy HDTV…

-The majority ov the glitches and limit breaks were removed from the PS2 version…so stuff like Commando Storm OTG connect into Captain Sword doesn’t work…

-Strider is higher in the tiers in the PS2 version due in part that his hitbox is smaller and stuff like Magnus standing fierce won’t touch him unless he’s at point blank range…

-PS2 has the shortcuts…and trust me, you won’t get better using shortcut buttons…but you prolly already know this…

u can get a DC on these forums or ebay
u can get a copy of mvc2 on these forums or download from a torrent… u need to find somebody that you know has a copy of it and pm them.

this is quite a dilemma

You godlike son.
