Seeing as it’s so divided, we might have to compromise and have it on both consoles. I’m pretty sure the game is the same on xbox and playstation, so we’ll just have to find some way to work out the controllers.
I propose that if one of the players in a match uses an American stick that it be played on PS3, because there aren’t any American style sticks for xbox as far as I know.
If they both use japanese sticks we can just do it on xbox because both Personman and myself have offered up our sticks as loaners.
Grego: The game just came out, so there’s not really a tournament standard. Sirlin himself said they used EX 2’s throughout the entire testing of the game, so I’m not so sure he would say Ps3 is the standard.
I appreciate that your gonna allow Ps3 to be used. But I disagree strongly that there is no tourney standard, whatever majors and evo are using is the standard, and its been announced for a while now that they will be using ps3. Also, just because sirlin used a japstick for testing doesnt really mean anything. Finally, as I believe ghaleon stated the tournament standard for EVERY GAME is PS3 if it is out on ps3 and x360.
Every tournament pretty much anywhere can attract 1-2 people with a Playstation 3. You don’t need Evo resources for anything but Evo. Even a major only needs maybe 6-7 consoles max per game being played.
Yeah, I’ll bring mine too. And yes it is the tourney standard because of everything I posted. Tournament organizers understand this and the logic behind it. It’s not opinion, the converter issue makes it pretty simple fact. You can still NOT LIKE it but you have to understand this if you want to understand the tourney scene and be apart of it. lol look through the other pinned tournaments
I feel bad for 360 players and all but Sony standard accomodates maximum people/hardware. And if a 360 Hori owner is borrowing a PSX stick, chances are he’ll be playing on better parts anyway.
Well, for me it’s like this. I’m used to Jap shit. I learned to play on stick way back in 2000 on a DC Agetec. I’m alright on American stuff from playing in the arcade, but I was always far better at getting shit off with a Japanese stick. So I don’t have problems with the 360 Hori, hell, I’d probably do better with it than anything using Happ or iL. So, if I’m borrowing someone else’s PS stick, it means I have to use something I’ve not only never played with before since it’s likely a modded stick to begin with, chances are, it’s american! So I don’t think better parts would be as important as being radically different.
As for the PS issue, I see it like this. PS2 was the standard not just because it had fighters, but because it had a lot of excellent games in its own right. Therefore everyone owned one. Whereas barely half the number of Xbox owners have a PS3. And yet, the expectation is that this relatively unpopular console should be the standard? It’s fucked up. Especially when you consider the thing is roughly twice as expensive as an xbox.
Yeah, if I need to play on PS3, can I borrow anybodies stick for that console? I’ll just use it for that particular match and give it right back. And like I said, if anyone needs a 360 stick I have an extra EX2.
Oh yeah, if anyone could bring recording equipment I would REALLY like to record TvC. There haven’t been many tournaments yet, so getting this one on youtube would probably get a lot of hits and possibly bring more people to the tournaments.

Are you really having CvS2 but not Marvel? I just noticed that. I hope VDO still goes so I can get in some matches. And if you plan on changing SF:HD to PS3 so anyone has an available controller, you should prob change the OP. And from the looks it seems like you’ll have one person in DR so maybe Marvel instead if there’s interest Saturday?
P.S. I’d also suggest making loser’s/winner’s finals both 3/5 for all games if that’s not what your post is saying.
