Difficulty of use Tiers?

Just curious of which characters are harder to use than others at high level. For example, Yun is Top Tier but he’s also hard to learn, Chun is Top Tier but has c.forward late cancel into super which is kind of easy.

It really depends on the matchup. I play mainly with Urien who I found moderately difficult to learn. The buffering was a little tricky at first. I find it hard to win against Akuma, Ibuki, and Dudley as Urien doens’t have much of a wake up and is a large, somewhat slow target for speedier combo based characters.

being TOP level is hard with ANY character.
Chun’s cMK late cancel being easier to grasp than Genei-jin doesn’t make her easier to play at top level, at most that makes it easier to get to mid level.
Actually, at upper-mid level Yun may be even easier than Chun since Genei Jin does all the work for him, seriously.

But what I mean is that, playing a Chun like MOV/Nuki, or having a Yun like KO/Nitto is not easier (nor harder of course) than getting a Yamazaki-level 12, or Sugiyama-like Necro. The more the level rises, the less the “ease of use” matters, and in the end it matters nothing. It’s, at most, only a measure on how fast you will be getting results.

pretty much what hol horse said.

being top level with any character is difficult, however inherent weaknesses in certain characters does make it more difficult to win (12, q, hugo etc…) which is why there are tiers!

Exactly. Ease to use != ease to win with when the character is mastered.

I understand that once at a high level, tiers come into play. But actually learning how to use the character at a high level has to be different between each character. I understand that once you learn Yun SA3, that you work less to win, but actually learning it has to be very different… actually, I guess my question wasn’t exactly what I was really asking. What I want to ask is, how difficult it is to learn to use each character and not how difficult it is to win with them.

highest “learning” curves would probably be yun, ibuki, 12, hugo. i guess…its pretty hard to quantify.

Although you cant really go by what I say too much because I havn’t actually “Tried” to learn a few these characters yet, I am going by how hard it “seems it will be” to learn the ones I havn’t tried.

yun, Q, ibuki, makoto, necro, 12, and maybe oro?
I would have to disagree with hugo though, well I guess it depends on the circumstances. I find people who never use hugo or dont even know any combo’s with im do fairly well, just using like 3 or 4 moves with him actually works a lot =(. But I guess if you were to actually play him seriously it would be really tough to learn him.

Hell yes yun is hard to learn. I come from gouki-ken, and I get freakin mopped up when I play yun. The transition is huge from a shoto. Especially yun’s anti air? doesn’t really have anything beside dp kick.

yun aa is different, he cant just rely on one move, but his anti air is really good.

c.mp xx lk dragon kicks

s.mk…etc

I think the most difficult characters to learn are: 12, ibuki, oro, dudley, and urien.

No I mean like when your standing and a opponet just comes down on you, the kicks are ok, but the they take forever to come out, and the EX is always whiffing I swear:rofl:.

thats because its not supposed to be an anti air lol…very few characters have a reliable dp type anti air move (shotos, and dudleys ex dp)…
