Oh ok, by the way you have a good mai. It’s just you are use to rb2 styles. I’m starting to play rb2 more, so maybe we can play in that game also.:karate:
XAQShinor has a good Mai also in RB2…but bottom line is Mai is still better in RBS…
Pretty much! As you keep proving that at every rbs function you attend.:karate: I think we will have atleast 10-16 peeps in the rbs at FRXII.
:karate::rock::karate:
That’s good to hear!!!
EDIT- RB2 Footage from MWC:

As you can see XAQ does have a good Mai in RB2…but Mai still has more options in RBS…
Yea, I also see that a lot of special moves come out quicker in rb2, but they have longer recovery time. That makes them easier to combo, but makes them unsafe to do if they block your combo. In rbs special some moves start slow, but they have a faster recovery time if blocked, thus making them better to use in pressure tactics imo. Take mai remebu. In rbs you can’t hit her after a blocked close remebu, but in rb2 you can punish a remebu if you block it close. maybe you can go through moves DG and compare what special moves are safe in one game and not safe in another. List ways you should use both versions on the same special moves for the same characters in rbs-rb2.
Terry doesn’t have the power dunk in rb2. It was replaced with the firekick. With the ability to make any special move a break shot in rb2. I guess snk thought the power dunk was too nasty to have as a breakshot in rb2, so they took it out of the game. In rbs there’s only 1 move that is the characters breakshot. Its not the same button with everyone. Terry’s is the power dunk in rbs.
Krausers throw game is 10 times better in rb2 than rbs due to the fient combos gives him more grab range on his special throws! Also having a simple line shifting system in rb2 helps krauser also. Rb2 is played more in one plane while rbs gameplay is more 2.5 style. Yes you can goto the other plane, but you can only do 3 attacks in the other plane. You can’t do any specials or supers in the other plane in rb2. The other plane is just an extended roll that you can control for a short time before being forced back into the forgournd. While in rbs the other plane is another fighting plane where you can preform all of your special moves and super moves.
I personally think that the rbs line shifting adds more depth to the real bout special gameplay. Not hurt it like others have suggested. In rb2 the fient combo’s adds more depth to the gameplay. I see why they nerfed characters in rb2 from rbs. Do to the new gameplay style with feints combos they had to weaken the characters overall.
Case and point in rbs ex tung is one of the worst characters in in rbs. He is the base version of what the rb2 tung. They wanted the tone down version of tung in rb2, but he is tone down fromthe ex tung in rbs also! You can’t have rbs mai in rb2 gameplay or she would be broken. She would have endless pressure strings due to fients setups and the plane shifting being weaker in rb2. With fients and the juggle system in rb2 mai had to be nerfed and so did a lot of characters to balance rb2.
Try both games and see which gameplay suits you 1st, then swork from there.
Terry has some nasty rushdown pressure strings in rbs. Most his special moves are safe in rbs when blocked. He can pressure you non stop if you don’t have meter for a breakshot. This is where the rbs line shifting system comes into play to break up the pattern used against you.
Yeah one of the ways I murder people with Mai and Josh couldnt figure out in the corner= I trap them with one of my 5-8 frame traps…revolving around ryuenbu in the corner and they really cant get out of it, (plus the pushback in the corner enables me to keep it going, been hard at work on this shit for a long ass time lol) even if they sidestep I recover before they do and track them with A/B or a Line Shift Top or Bottom C to keep the thing going. If I do it right you really can’t even jump out of it (Breakshot it and I’ll get your ass back in it!! )…this is stuff that like I say people just don’t know about Mai in RBS that makes her godlike in the corner in addition to wall break dizzy/death, throws into supers and other stuff…Josh tried and he couldnt really get out of it the whole time…it was pretty much like once I got him in the corner it was over.
Plus with the frame trap (s) I mix in doing a sporadic P Power to break your guard and test your instincts (you have a split second to react and P Power will grab you crouch blocking!) because my trap will put you in quite the blockstun and you will know you are in blockstun pretty quick…almost ultimate guard esque (staying in blockstun pretty much)
This type of stuff you can’t do in RB2…but in RBS like you said you can do it…
Also there is a Universal Anti Air in RBS…Its Line Shift Sweeps (no trip guard of it exists!)…I was getting people with it all day long in RBS even in casuals when I was just screwing around…if they jump…LS Sweeps are free as an Anti Air…don’t be afraid to use it in high level combat…its very very efficient!
Also in me vs. Josh he was using the Demon Dance move alot and like I said I just Line Shift jumped and it took that game away from him. Sokaku is open after his Demon Dances and the thing is to just Line Shift then jump towards him and then punish…it makes all four of his Demon Dance attacks whiff and he’s open!
Thats how you take away Sokaku’s Demon Dance mess. Then he relied on the Line Shift Blanka Ball…
Safe moves for Mai in RBS: (We aint talking about Breakshotting!)
-Ryuenbu (Is godlike in the corner, its a specialty of mine I use for frame traps! Be experimental to figure out ways to keep your opponent in the corner after knockdown!)
-Hcf+C (Use sporadically after knocking someone down its safe blocked!)
-from a distance air ninja bees
-Multifan
Unsafe in RB2:
-Ryuenbu
-Hcf+C
Every other special she has is unsafe…shes not safe period in RB2…Normals are even punishable!!!
But…depending on what you use Larry as I do with my frame traps in the corner…you may with Terry be able to recover before they do if they Line Shift…
Thats how I keep people in the corner with Mai…
They Line Shift and then they eat a Line Shift A which tracks then I start the whole thing over again or they eat a P Power or I mixup to cr.a’s or I throw them or I keep the Frame Trap going or I use Line Shift attacks!
Corner Traps can be very very nasty in this game! Mai has one of the best corner traps in the game IF NOT THE BEST (revolving around ryuenbu its too damn good! :wow:) I’d argue! Just ask Josh and Dan…
It just pretty much makes it where if someone thinks they can just turtle and hold down-back vs. My Mai and not get hit vs. all my flashy shit…I say NO PROBLEM…and I get your ass to the corner ASAP and then the Frame trap madness begins and then you die if you dont figure it out fast!!!
Also like everyone else…Mais toughest matchup is Billy… Sokaku really aint that tough of a matchup for her either! Besides Billy I dont think she has tough matchups!!! Another sign of top tier!

Hi DG.
See some videos of my RB2 Mai in 2DF. You will have a look how she is really in RB2.
All her moves are useful and safe. Ryuenbu has an insane hit range in RB2.
She doesn’t need the d,u move, qcb+C is enough. In fact, that mve in RBS is not great. Maybe if it was like the Kim one, but it is not.
I disagree about multifan in RBS. Maybe is the worst move of her. You have other tools instead of it, and better ones.
Its not her worst move at all in RBS…Multifan is one of her best moves…
It allows her to do good damage EASILY (How can a move thats safe and does 20-30% damage on one bar of health be one of her worst moves? )…It should be the primary ender of all her staple comboes besides S Power…it allows her to wall break really fast…allows her to chip away at damage when time is running out…its one of her best moves…I dont see how it could be one of her worst. If it was such a horrible move then why did SNK take it out in RB2???
Problem with Multifan is people dont know how to use it correctly!!! If people saw me playing Josh I used it THE RIGHT WAY…
- Very rarely if at ALL when he had H Power…
- And ONLY when I hitconfirmed my comboes and knew they hit…
Ryuenbu is not safe in RB2…neither is HCF+C… on block you can punish Mai after HCF+C, I’ve tested this because I know how to use it in RBS…
If you knew the frame trap (s) I use in RBS you’d see how Ryuenbu isnt safe in RB2…Her godlike Frame traps in RBS revolve around a near instant recovery Ryuenbu…in RB2 the shit is punishable…I’ve been punished by one being blocked time and time again.
I’ve been punished trying it in RB2 while I cant be punished doing it in RBS…
Also no way is Kachosen totally safe…
If you throw it from full screen I can superjump and punish you.
I’ve tested this time and time again…
SNK remove lots of moves, some good, some bad. I strongly think this was correct. I mean, works as a power, just to finish combos, not to use it as fight weapon.
Wrong. Of course you won’t do a move if you know the opponent will block. If you do the move close to him, of course he will punish you but c’mon, what kind of strat is that?
Yes…if some noob do the kachosen. :amazed: Every throw move in every freaking fight game has that vulnerability.
No one will throw a kachosen if there’s full screen distance.
Maybe in RBS is not, I’ve tested, but in RB2, ufff! Can be a pain in the ass.
I’m very curious. Is there vids of you playing Mai in RBS? I would like to face my RB2 style Mai vs your RBS MAI :wgrin:
couple of things, mais firebal is ONE OF THE BEST IN THE GAME. only andy might have a better one but its not full screen. second thing, mais QCB+C from RBS IS her best move along with the d-u+C. theres no arguing that, its a fact.
This proves my point though…you can’t use Ryuenbu the same like you can in RBS…its not safe on block…
Thats my point…you can get punished if they block it…therefore it proves ryuenbu is not safe on block…Who cares if its safe on hit???
There’s plenty vids of me fucking around playing casually my RBS Mai if you just check my DarkGeeseMexico channel on youtube…but the key word is fucking around…not playing serious, I play differently if its for real…
I agree completely…No arguing that whatsoever…
And her ryuenbu in RBS is godlike…if people dont know that I take pleasure in showing them in person!!!
-Dark Geese
only from a distance IIRC. from up close and personal it could be punished, though not sure. been too long.
Nah I’ve never been punished from up close and personal ryuenbu…I test it all the time…never been punished by a blocked ryuenbu up close or from a distance…
NEVER.
In RBS the pushback + recovery is too good you can’t be punished…if I could be punished from it then I couldnt have my frame trap that I was using against Josh and everyone else that always seems to befuddle them when they get in it!!!
True frame traps are based off things that are safe blocked…and ryuenbu make no mistake about it…is safe blocked…matter of fact I use it to end alot of things off line shifts if they dont hit…because its safe blocked!!!
-Dark Geese
I was testing this in RB2 against Shad, specially just doing ryuenbu at different distance and in non ocasion I was punished. It’s completely safe and more deadly because there are some combos in RB2 for example d+a,d+c, ryuenbu you do in RBS that in fact it hit, but if you start the combo little far against him, in RBS you don’t hit, but in RB2 it does. I mean, there’s more hit distance in RB2 than RBS, and that is crazy.
But, for me, what at the end makes the big difference to say Mai RB2 is the best, is the P.Power (SDM). Man, I don’t know what the designers were thinking when they made this desition to include this move.
It’s so freaking insane the impact this move has in fights. Maybe 8 times of 10 you hit. Simply you can’t miss. It has an incredible range, if you jump it will hit you, if you block, Mai is safe even to more punish, and with some kachocen sessions the bar is always full when you need it.
This is the break point between this Mai’s battle. By far, far, this is the best P.Power in whole game.
Well, I want to up some replays from 2DF to Youtube, to show some ggs of Mai and Kim. Maybe a little off-topic but what is the program I must use to do this? I mean, to capture the screen.
While Ryuenbu from a distance in RB2 sure may be safe, from up close it isnt…
Thats the difference in RBS…
Its safe from a distance as well as up close in RBS. Also you dont need that combo in RBS…thats the thing…Mai has to rely on stuff in RB2 she didnt have to in RBS…thats my whole point…she has more options in RBS…
You can just go Cr.A,Cr.C to multifan in RBS and I guarantee thats more damage than Cr.A,Cr.C to ryuenbu in RB2.
Also thats another thing…I have no need for Cr.A, Cr.C in RBS when I can just annoy the hell out of you and hitconfirm cr.ax5-6 and pressure you with it, combo into itself, put you in the corner, throw off your breakshot timing etc.
You have to rely on stuff like that because Mai’s cr.a has been toned down in RB2!
And sure her P Power is very good…safe blocked etc…Its extremely good…but because I rely on trapping them in the corner with my frame traps and a very very good Ryuenbu because its safe blocked from afar and up close, I can get people with P Power in RBS that you normally wouldnt be able to due to the fact that I put them in such blockstun that they dont have a lot of time to react and evade the P Power!
Where do you play? I’m sure I can get a cheap travel to a city near here and have some ggs on RBS Mai vs Mai, as it seems only can be demostrated face to face
And no, ryuenbu RBS doesn’t convice me. RB2 is godlike because the range, it’s so freaking good.
I play in Dallas…
I still think RBS Ryuenbu is better due to traps…plus it has the range also!
If you can get to Dallas I can just come an get you!
