So I have a Qanba q1 stick which I modded with a Sanwa JLF and Sanwa buttons. Been using it for years and love it. Recently a friend of mine purchased a Razer Panthera which also has Sanwa parts. He let my try it and I noticed an immediate and very distinct difference between the feel of the joystick and buttons on the panthera compared to the sanwa parts I modded my stick with. Don’t get me wrong, the parts I have on my stick are still very good and have never given me problems but the feel of the parts on the panthera were surprisingly different and the overall feel was just a bit better. The joystick felt just as responsive as my own but slightly tighter and it was kind of the same feeling with the buttons; they felt a litter more clicky and snappy where as the buttons I have in comparison felt a tad softer. Going back to my stick after trying my friends panthera, although there was obviously no difference regarding my performance and are still great parts, had me slightly wishing they felt the same as on the razer stick. I bought my parts 3 to 4 years ago, so is it just that the newer sanwa parts just have a slightly different feel to the older ones? I know that mine could have been worn from use but I’m 100% positive they never felt quite the way the ones on the panthera felt so I thought I’d just ask and see if anyone else had experienced something similar to this and perhaps if maybe its just different models of joystick and buttons that they put in the panthera than the ones I bought for my stick?
Wear and tear, you had the same stick for years.
Also stop fussing and play some video games
None of what I’m saying is me fussing. I stated multiple times that it wasn’t a matter of a performance difference. It was just a question regarding whether the parts in sticks such as the panthera use identical sanwa models as the ones bought separately. I know that use over time will cause the buttons to wear down as I also acknowledged, but I can also say with one hundred percent confidence that they never felt the way the joystick/buttons on my friends panthera feel, which led me to ask this question. It’s not like this is affecting my enjoyment of playing games or making me suddenly feel that my stick is horrible and putting me at some sort of disadvantage.
I heard this a thousand and one times, if your game play is not being effected then you are fine.
And paragraph sized post is fussing.
the same joystick can feel different if you rotate it by 90 degrees. no, really. try it and you’ll notice that circular motions are suddenly easier or harder to do. these items aren’t perfect or 100% consistent and there are a lot of factors at play. the panthera must weigh much more than the q1 as well. the increased stability probably enhances the difference.
maybe your friend has a stiffer spring in the stick. you might also want to open your buttons (remove the plunger) and clean them with soapy water or rubbing alcohol.
